Ok so after 15yrs of heroin on and off, my husband finally detoxed again. This time he has stayed clean for a week so far. Hes supposed to be having a naltrexone implant tomorrow. Thing is, he came back early from detox which he has always done, but this time i told him that if he wanted to come home the conditions were that he must take the tablets daily until its time for the implant. Thing is,yesterday he refused. Hes been so irritable and angry since hes back which i completely understand, and hes getting bored and his legs
and stomach are still aching him so im letting him do his own thing, but now hes out of control. We run a valet parking business and he keeps taking the customers cars out so ive managed to get the keys off him and ive hidden them. He was ok with me at first and ive been massaging his legs whenever he wants and im there to do whatever he wants me to do because i want to help as much as he wants, but yesterday was different. He wouldnt discuss it and just told me to leave it. If he did use heroin yesterday will he still be able to have the implant tomorrow? And if he does have the implant how long is he going to feel grumpy and restless and weak for? i feel a bit selfish because im just thinking about how much i can put up with. Weve got 3 children and im trying to run the business as well as the house and theres just not enough hours in the day for me to do everything. Posted on 08/09/09, 04:08 am |

ok, after 15 years of heroin addiction on and off myself I understand what he's going through and I really feel for you. I am unfamiliar with the implant personally but I hear it does work. Good luck with that and i am here if you need a recovering addicts opinion as to why he may be doing certain things or acting a certain way. It sounds pretty familiar.......

Thanks DSR, he still refused to take his tablet today and he told me hes moving to his mums because he cant do it. I told him i completely understand-which i do, and that i dont hold it against him. I cant live with an addict any more and ive always held onto my hope that some day things will be different. But now i must put my children first. If he hasnt used for the past 2 days and he goes ahead with the implant then maybe things will be different. But my hope has now vanished completely.

I don'tknow alot about this implant but I heard that you need to go thur their detox by iv and then while under they place the implant.there is no withdrawals at all.Do you mind me asking how much this is costing? Is ther only a 3month time frame on these? My heart goes out to you and your family. It's so difficult living with this disease.I wish you much luck.

You must be clean for 3-4 days before having implant, otherwise it throws you into serious WD and its happened before where people havnt survived it. They can last 1mth,3mths or 6mths and they start at about 600 pounds in england.
If he has used for the past 2 days then he cant have implant. I think tonight is gonna be my first night as a single mum. I just want today to be over.
