I just got virus back at 6month check, i must admit i wasn't feeling as good as some on here who had the same strain as me but put it down to diabetes. Now i have gone a week knowing it is back i am off my food (i don't want to go so thin again) but i am a worrier and wonder if that is my fault? I am waiting for an appointment with my consultant but i don't think i could go through the tx again as it made me terribly ill! So has anyone got any advice on what i should do ie: wait for new drug, get something different if possible (meds) as i feel like i have got flu symptoms . i just hope this is a one off bug or i don't know.

dj, i suppose they risk a 6 month tx cause people who are going to respond do so by six months. im in line for a 4th with teleprevir added. its upsettin for the virus to recur but theres no doubt in my mind that theyre about to crack the non-resp thing. i can think of many worse diseases one could have. your liver had some good time to regenerate while they had the virus beat down. trudge on man..

I know there are a couple of radical new drugs on the verge of approval here. My hubby is Hep B, C, and D positive (for over 35 years) yet his liver is only Stage 1 grade 3/18. His liver specialist (at Mayo clinic) has delayed his treatment for the release of these drugs. This may be something you want to discuss with your consultant.
I know it's easier said than done, but don't worry yourself sick. Concentrate on getting yourself healthy and prepared in you do need to repeat treatment. Give Snowy a snuggle for me. I love dogs.

i dont believe it is anything you did or didnt do. As far as doing tx or waiting for something new to come out, that is a decision you yourself will have to make. I myself, have chosen to wait for something more curable to come out. Im not ready to go through that again.Right now, Im feeling better everyday and that seems to be enough right now for me. Good luck in whatever you choose to do and we will be there for you .

great advice lynn, as you can certainly "worry yourself sick" quite literally. i was having lightheaded moments after my dx till i read a hippie kinda publication and learned what tension is. not to be confused with stress. tension is where you sit around with tensed torso or other muscles. tension restricts blood flow and actually you are working when your supposed to be resting. it only takes a few days to deliberately relax those muscles when you feel them tightening. the faint spells stopped.

dj,
you've done everything absolutely perfect. it's not your fault in anyway that the virus is back. i am just sooo sad to hear this. makes my heart hurt for you...makes me feel very heavy. goodness. now..i'm crying. oh, dj...giving you lots of hugs and love my pal. listen, don't rush into another treatment! my 6 months is coming up in january and if it comes back i'm going to wait until the next stuff is out...the stuff that "gatorbuzz" took. it'll be on the market really soon and has a higher percentage rate of clearance and you don't have to take it a year. i think gator said it's only 6months? i think it's too hard on our bodies at our age to jump in and do another round of this shit right off. it'll give you an auto immune disease or something.... capnhardass is right in that your liver had some time to regenerate and the virus wasn't doing anything for the year you were in treatment. barb got the same news a few months ago and she's waiting for the new treatment to come out. and that's what i'm going to do too if i need to we're all here for you, d.j. you're in my thoughts everyday. i'm sending you lots of love, hope and lots of hugs, q

I'm so sorry to hear about your recurrence, I can't even imagine the frustration you must be feeling. DON'T GIVE UP. Remember, you don't need to rush right into another treatment course either. Consult with your MD, continue to seek support and take it slow...we are here for you.

dj, I dont know much yet as I am a newcomer here. Have not even started treatment yet but where I am going (UAB) is one of the top notch research facilities in the states. my doc tells me they are on the verge of a new drug, less side effects, lower tx time. Soon very soon.I have to believe! Hang in there brother!

When I stress out alot I get sick easier. I don't blame you for being upset and mad, I would be too, but try to do something like exercise or prayer or meditation that will help ease your mind and help with your stress level. Drink orange juice every morning and take your vitamins, your immune system is probably still recovering and your worrying is literally making you sick.
There are trials already for the 3rd drug that is supposed to be amazing, especially for non-responders and even 1s. So don't give up hope!
