I'm sure some of you heard about our last-minute decision to get together in Dallas this weekend.
Mema met her son in Dallas. DebBear drove up from places south with her husband. MartyTx drove down from places north with his wife. I flew into Dallas from places east, was picked up by my sister, and we all met for the weekend. It's just that easy, when folks who have been DS friends for a long time, can get together and meet in person. We ate until we couldn't stand the sight of food. We had some surprises.,.... Mema is about 6 feet tall and built like a line-backer. She has full sleeve tattoos on both arms. Actually, she made her ex-marine son look puny. Bear was as wide as she was tall, roly-poly fat old bear. I know. I was shocked. Marty looks nothing like his picture. In fact, he's black and has buggy eyes. Not that he wasn't handsome and clever..... it just surprised me that non of us knew. His wife was a doll. Had to walk 3 feet behind him and never made eye contact with anyone, but I'm sure it was a more of a cultural thing than a history of emotional abuse. I'm sure I was the greatest surprise. I actually DO look exactly like Elle from Kill Bill, played by Daryll Hannah. They couldn't believe it. Anyway, we had a great day and a half together, and all are headed home except Mema. I'm in the Dallas airport waiting for my 2:30 flight back to reality. OOOPs. My gate's just been changed. Y'all really need to try to get together whenever you get a chance. We had a great time. Hey guys.....I made it back home to...........Sarah lied!!! While she does look amazing like Elle from Kill Bill.........her eye patch is on the opposite side and the syringe she carries around is bigger!!!!!!!!!
Marty's wife was not allowed to speak to us, only nod her head and grin. Mema wore a Dallas Cowboys jersey the entire time and was often yelling "Go Cowboys".and drawing quite the crowd , I might add!! But in all seriousness, we had a great time and realized just how easy to get together on a spur of the moment kinda thing and said that everyone should try to do it when/if given the opportunity. If you've formed wonderful friendships here, by all means."Go for it":):)

Sounds like you had a great time.
It's been years that the oldies from this site, not here now, but before your time, they meet every year, next year I am finally going to make the trip. I am landing at the Richmond International airport, and going to Chester VA. Anyone from around this area? If all goes as planned I will get a nice hotel room for a few days, then will travel to Huntington WV to see my old tx buddy from 2002-03. One of these days, I will plan to go to Florida, many of you are from the area, and would love to meet you Sarah, Barb, and our beautiful Ptriss. Glad to hear all went well.

Back in "my day" 97-99, I met many wonderful heppers that I had grown to love on line.....never had a bad encounter yet:):) Best bunch of folks ya ever want to meet.!!!!!!!!!
Mack.....I've never mentioned this here before.............but one your your "oldies" from this site was one of my beary BFF's.........Bayla:):) Loved her to death.........met with her a couple of times...................ahhh........the memories:):)

I would like to say my wife and i went down on saturday and spent the day with Mema, Bear and Sarah........I had beakfast this morning before we left..We had a great time and i didn't realize how much i needed something like that......Just to have some company that really understands.....I think my wife really understands what i have had to endure the past few months.......Trust me folks, i am one lucky soul to have all of you as friends........
DS has saved me........

I'm so glad you guys were able to meet in Dallas!! Marty, thanks for posting the pic of Mema, Bear and Sara...I love the sign hanging over their heads...lol. Seriously though, it's always great to put a face with my DS friends.
Debbear: Bayla was on here when I first joined DS and she is a doll and so very helpful! I miss her. Many of my original DS friends have moved on but I still keep in touch with most of them outside of DS. Friends forever even though I've never met any of them in person.

mesadarlene and i met while she was her in california a couple months ago visiting her sister. it was wonderful ! felt like i'd known her forever! she's even more beautiful in person and her husband was the coolest! all of us with hep C have quit a bond tht no one can understand.
