Insurance co called and said I was approved for the interferon and tx thru 11-4-2010. Doc has ordered meds and I can start tx as soon as it comes in.Yay.Guess now I am fixin to ride the dragon thru hell.AAAAAgh.Any thoughts on best place to take shots? No meat on the gut plus I took 21 rabies shots there so I am kinda freaked out about that. Does the leg work? Also does anyone know if my viral load goes away do I go from stage 3 to a 2 and so forth?Anyway I look forward to all the help I have already been given and seen given to others. Guess I will find out about this dragon everyone speaks of.Warm fuzzies to all

" well with all the shots in the belly n the ragetabs, tx pretty much resembles rabies. better go for the small pinch of belly fat cause you do not want to put that shit into a muscle. muscleburn was my worst symptom. well, and insanity. i went right to the edge, dove over n didnt want to come back. horrible horrible sanity.. " Can't advise you on the shots but that's to address the virus. As far as what stage liver disease your in, the shots don't do anything for that. The damage done to your liver is done, it can't really be repaired. I've read about vitamins and what not helping regenerate the liver some but I think only stem cell stuff can really help at this point. If I'm wrong, please anybody out there, correct me. "

" Grab your skin in your lower stomach and do it, it helps even more if you sit down. I dont have alot of meat either. lol

VL has nothing to do with damage to the liver but doing tx will hopefully get rid of the virus so you won't have anymore damage.

The leg is much worse than the stomach, stomach is less painful. "

" Dave, my BMI is 19 or 20 so there's not really any fat on me at all and I was still able to find some areas on my lower stomach to do the shots. I also did them in the upper/outer thigh area. I rotated the sites from week to week. Be sure to ask your nurse exactly where you can take the shots given your slender build and given that you are sensitive to the stomach area. It's perfectly fine to do the thigh area -- just have the nurse show you how to pinch enough skin that is not muscle. If your training nurse is not specific about the shots --- make her address this issue with you until you understand where you can take the shots in the best way for your particular body.

As far as the liver, yes it can regenerate once the offender is eliminated. In your case, the offender is the Hep C virus but it can also be alcohol and certain prescription meds, etc.

Congrats on getting your treatment all lined up. "

" the shot is subcutaneous so the needle is teeny and goes in at a 30 degree angle or so. i mostly did it in my stomach cause that's where i had the most fat. best to do it in FAT. sometimes i'd do on the side of my upper thigh cause i hve fat there; and i guess if you can twist yourself around you could do it in your upper butt?

i love your visual of riding the dragon ! that's perfect!

read somewhere that we can reverse SOME of the liver damage as long as we stay off alcohol, drugs and eat healthy.

congrats on getting approval for treatment! "

" I used the area on my outer thigh. I think I did oops into muscle a time or two though based on leg cramp intensity.

I was told that the liver is the only organ that can regenerate (depending on the level of damage of course). I don't know if that means that scar tissue (cirrosis) will ever go away or if it just means healthy cells replace damaged ones.

The dr. at Mayo told us that he had sucessfully treated several patients that held at stage 3 and 4 for over a decade. Allot depends on how healthy a life you live.

Good luck on treatment. We'll all be pulling for you. "

" I used my outer thighs for the interferon and my stomach for the procrit. Try both and see what feels better for you. The best thing I found for the injection site rash and itch on my thighs was the benadryl cream.

When I started and ended treatment I was stage 2 but the doctor said my liver improved and my viral load decreased. "
