My husband Rob will do his last tx on Wednesday - week 64. The doctor told him 2 take his last weeks worth of pills...Wed.5, Thurs. 5, Fri.4, Sat.3, Sun.2, Mon. 1 - Why wouldn't you take all 5 pills for the duration? Anyone know? Also she has given him some pills to take once tx is over. It is to reduce his liver overload. Sept it was 3000 now it is 1200...better but still tons too high. Why wouldn't they try to reduce the iron first before tx? We asked her but got no answer. Will also ask the internist in Nov. when he goes for his porphyeria. Thanks all

We were discussing the variety of pill instructions on another thread the other day. Advice really seems to vary alot from Dr. to Dr. Mine said the whole dose for 5 days after the last shot. As it turned out, I was sick Sun. & Mon and barfed most of them anyway and did not pick up where I left off.
Not sure about the iron. I'm not losing sleep over it. I figure after being undie since week 3 if I haven't cleared this virus yet a few days of pills aren't likely to do it.

The decrease in the pills sounds like the dr is weaning off the pills. As for the pills to take post-tx, try searching the name of them online and see what you can find.

When you start tx, you do your first shot and then you take pills for a week to bind and act WITH that shot.
Your last week is identical to your first week: You do shot number 48 or whatever number, then you take the wekk of pills to work WITH that last shot. That's why it's called COMBO tx. Two items working together.
