I have read from some of you that your not eating any fast foods, or hamburgers. I was wondering why not. Don't get me wrong I'm not talking about an everyday event, just once in a while.

while i was on tx i had no appetite at all. i lived on chocolate covered donuts, rich pastries, and chocolate milkshakes. my hep doc said they give their patients a free pass while on tx. when tx was over, i was told the free pass was over and to start eating healthy. so now, for the health of my liver, it`s fruits, veggies, no fast food, low fat, no red meat. btw, i cleared in 7 wks. 3 months later still clear but too early to declare victory.

Red meat is harder for you to process through your digestive system so the fat makes your liver work harder. When I started tx the taste of red meat made me sick but now I enjoy a good burger every blue moon. Red meat is fine just in sparse amounts, but it is a good source of protein but chicken is healthier. Its all about moderaton.

Thank You all for your advice. Was just making sure that eating it wouldn't cause me to have to go into the hospital or anything like that. Hope you all had a wonderful 4th. of July...

I'm a carnivore...like my beef. I eat a hamburger or steak every week before my shot. IMO, I think that it helps with less sides, for me anyway.
I also eat fruit and veggies. I was told by my dr to eat high protein foods on this tx. I don't eat fried food, and try to pick organic and very lean cut's of meat. FOr some reason, while on tx, I lost my taste for chicken. My peg nurse told me to eat protein with my riba pills.

rbm, I lost my taste for chicken too -- makes me shiver to think about it.
Shadedblue, a fast food meal now and then is probably just fine. In fact, I'm in treatment week 44 and this past week my appetite has been such that a burger from McDonalds was all I could think of eating one particular day and usually I never touch the stuff.

There is a greasy local hamburger joint that I know the minute you walk in your arteries start to clog but , once a month I go there get my share of Cholesterol( The Bad Kind) But, I eat at home all the time anymore as it saves so much money and I am a$$hole in debt at the moment from the TX. Moderation is the key to life, that is the saying at least....
