I want to thank everyone hear for their support and advice. This is a great site. I have completed the tx. Did 16 weeks out of 24. (just over 2 weeks ago, side effects still getting to me though) Dr. recommend stopping due to new guidelines (no virus after 4 weeks and tx. was really lowering my blood counts) I also want to suggest to everyone to have a good support group of friends and family.
I had a small support group. My husband Dan (very supportive and understanding, a great help) a best friend Nancy, who would call and check on me frequently and who I could depend on. One co-worker whom I walk w/ at lunch every day. Linda would ask how I was doing but I didn't fully confide in her. I also have my 2 adult children (a son who never calls) and a daughter (she would only ask how I was when she was calling for something else, I'm very disappointed).
I should have also reached out to my closest sister Cindy and perhaps my father and to a co-worker I work the closest with. I somewhat regret not having done so.
I spoke to my sister just at the end of my tx.s. She has called several times since.
I regret not letting my father know as I neglected him for the 4 months I was on the tx due to the lack of energy. Now I'm trying to make it up to him (at least that's the way I feel)
The lesson I've learned is you can not always depend on all the people you choose to help you. Also they have lives of there own and sometimes can not be there for you (my best friend had big vacation plans to Italy)
So even with the support of people here who know what your going through, arm yourself with enough people to help you through. Be there for them also.
I am taking my own advice just to build better relationships before I get caught up in my own little life. Life is to hard to go it alone. For example, if something were to ever happen to my husband, I do not have enough close friends to lean on. I realize my sister also needs some support with her own problems and now I will be there for her.

" thanks for your post. i am starting treatment tonight and have been debating who to tell. your post confirmed that i need to tell more people. i have one friend who lives relatively close (we are in a rural area) and i know she would be supportive and helpful but i am the type of person who likes to do it myself and not ask for help. after reading your post, i am going to tell her. your advice is good-we and our friends and family only live once and we need to help, support and appreciate each other. " My doc said there were studies out that geno 2's may only need 12 weeks instead of 24. He wanted me to go ahead with the 24 and I agreed.
Pat, could you keep us updated on your post treatment status. Also did you have a liver biopsy and if so what stage is your liver at? "

" Good luck to you . My support has been the folks here at DS for 90% of my TX . Only 5 "friends" actually contacted me while I was going through the hell. Good for you that you feel that you have learned good life lessons from this journey. We all come out of TX with a new found knowledge and understanding what ever it may be.... "
