Hi,
I have hep c for 18yrs.
Try meds and it doesn't go away,so I figure i'll just have to live with it,but it's a lonely journey and I can use some friends.
I would appreciate if someone would reach out and explain to me how this site works.
thanks

" Thanks so much for your post. I am new to this site too but the support I've found here is overwhelming particularly since it is my partner that has hep. C and not me. You are not alone and there are things like liver transplants that can be done down the road. This is where my partner is with this now. We spent all week down at Mass General getting all his labs done so they will hopefully put him on the list. Our next step is to try and get him on the list at Mayo Clinic in Florida. I don't want to make it sound like it's no big deal because it is. I also know however, that if he can get the transplant his odds of survival are good. There are things that can be done to help you and in the meantime stick close to this site. It's helped me a lot.

" Hi there. I've had Hep C for 37 years, and I'm doing fine. I wish it would go away sometimes, but most of the time I don't notice it.

I think the most important thing you can do for your liver, whether you have Hep C or not, is eat right.

Dr Bernard Jensen says that no therapy will work without diet as the foundation.

"By now, people recognize that foods have effects on the body, and there is more to diet than just putting together a conglomeration of edible substances. Poor foods can have undesirable side effects just like drugs. Good foods, balanced and in the right proportion, assist the body in healing itself and in moving us onward and upward to high-level well-being. To truly enjoy life, we must have all of the elements which are so necessary in order to have a full grown, beautiful, lovely body.

"We recognize that there is the spiritual, mental, ethical, moral side to the eating programs, but we cannot be well with a prayer in one hand and a hotdog and a Coke in the other."

So even for those who decide to do treatment with Interferon, eating right will assist in the success of that program, as well as in recovering from the war it wages on the virus and the body. And for those who choose to live in harmony with the virus, diet is also the foundation of health.

"Our bodies are made of the dust of the earth, so we must live close to the earth, the vegetables, fruits, nuts, berries, flowers and herbs that transform the chemicals of the earth into living biochemicals, fit for our use. We cannot go amiss in seeking out the values in this direction. We can pray, and we will pray amiss, unless we realize that we must follow the natural path of living to experience the level of health and vitality we are made for."

We have a group here for healthy discussions.

" The war on Hep c is far from over, they are coming out with new meds in 2 yrs. About the best thing you can do is get a healthy lifestyle going, eating right and if you can get some excercise, drink alot of water and juice. I bought myself a juiceman machine and buy supplements that help.My vl is at 0 so far, but that means I must stay vigilante in staying healthy. "

" I agree with Mike that the real work comes after the TX to make sure that we do not give the virus any chance to rear it's head up once again. As already said new drugs are coming out that seem promising....Drink that water , do not drink that alcohol, do not do those illicit drugs, no acetaminophen as we are discovering the real damage it causes to the liver.Hope and a positive attitude along trying to keep stress levels down to a minimum. Good Luck.... "
