" Interferon is a genetically engineered product.

Thanks for posting this, I googled and came up with this most interesting article about NATURAL interferon, which has been approved for use in Sweden, for those people who have not responded to treatments using recombinant (synthetic) interferon.

Natural interferon, produced by white blood cells, is part of the human immune system. It is one of the body's natural defensive responses to foreign substances such as viruses, and is so named because it "interferes" with viral growth. Recombinant interferons, which currently dominate the interferon market, are genetically engineered and ARE SOMETIMES RECOGNIZED AS "FOREIGN" BY THE BODY'S IMMUNE SYSTEM. Recombinant interferons usually contain only one subtype of interferon as compared to multiple subtypes produced by human white blood cells. "

" I would love to see a study between "natural" and "synthetic". Although, is there even an natural one available? If so, how do they harvest it in such quantities? "

" Mak answered the natural question; it's produced in your body.

" No JustBlue, the question was not answered. If there is a "natural" injection available, where does the cell made product come from? Is it derived from blood fractions in humans or is it from animals? (just like some injectable insulin is from pigs)

My question directly is, is there a NON synthetic injection available. "

" I work in a blood center and would be happy to ask our medical director about the source of white cells used to make natural interferon. There is a process in the testing and preparation of donated blood that is called "leukoreduction" which removes the white blood cells from donated blood because it is thought to produce a safer product for transfusion. I am thinking these removed cells could possibly be the source for the natural interferon but I'll find out. "
