" I am very happy to tell you that, I do believe in Milk Thistle.

Back in 2002, I met a man, who I admire very much.

A man who wrote books, from New Jersey, a good man.

I have learn soo much from him, he was always there for me, as I was learning and thirsty for knowledge on hep c.

He was working on different sites helping newly diagnosed hep c patients, or I should say members, very much like I do now.

Unfortunately, after being on all kinds of treatments, pushing all legal limits of interferon, for years and years, he was still a non responder.

One day he decided he had enough and simply quit being an advocate for hep c, and threw himself into the music/radio business and begun to write again.

My point is he always took Milk Thistle.

Wow, I'm getting all emotional, thanks Sharla for the trip to memory lane.

So yes, yes this is good for a hep c patient.

I do pray that one day you will manage to kill this bloody beast.

Good luck.

Mckenzie
One day at the time

ps: You know me Sharla, I do not believe in natural stuff, vitamins ect... so always ask your doctor before starting anything new. "

" I took milk thisle before I started treatment which was on July 23,2007. I heard so many mixed things about it that I just played around with it. BUT, after finding this site I have heard more good reviews on it. I was wondering if I should start taking it again while im on ribiviren/peg inferon? I already take antioxidants, vit E and B 12 &6. Does anyone have any sugestions other than ask my doc, I plan on asking him but Im looking for advice from someone who acually has the disease. much love from krystie "

" I took Milk T and I think it helped slow the progression of my HepC for awhile. The thing is once your liver gets to a certain piont there is no help except a transplant if treatment doesn't help. There are things we can do to slow it up but stop it I don't know of anything if the peg doesn't work. They are working on all kinds of new drugs to kill the virus and I'm sure one day we'll have a cure. That's what I pray for anyway. God Bless all...Love Paula "

" As with any herbal remedies, you need to be careful and do as much research as you can. For example, I'm on fluoxetine (prozac), which is metabolized by a particular liver enzyme (CPY384) that is affected by milk thistle. If I take both I run the risk of increased side effects and diminished benefits.

Treat it like any other drug and be aware of interactions. "

" Before I started treatment, my Doctor suggested three things. One 1000 mg of Vitamin E everyday, One B complex pill everyday, and three 185 mg Milk Thistle pills everyday. Take the milk thistle morning, noon and night. He explained there were tests in Europe that proved this to be a good supplement for Hepatitis C. He also said he wouldn't suggest anything else besides the interferon and ribavirin taken in combination. "
