I don't know much about it, but it came up in one of my support group meetings at the hospital. The doc there said it is usually used in final stage cirrhosis patients to stabilize while they might be waiting for a transplant.

I've been on daily infergen for two months. I'm a partial responder to the peg but after 6 months my viral load wasn't going down any more; thus the switch.

It can be more brutal than the soc for many.
I know of some who have been in er and then hospitalized near death due to it....far more than the standard soc. Go with care if considering. it's not just used for end stage patients as mentioned. That doc needs to do some studying. In fact, treatment at esld is even dangerous to do..but has been done and some successes however rare...but the damge is done at that point considered to be irreversable.

The doc I mentioned does not need to do any studying. He is at one of the leading hep c research hospitals in the world. That's not to say that there may be docs handing out that drug at their own discretion.

no it's just another form of interferon. They have 2 or 3 in there arsenal so that they can try if you don't respond to well to one. Who knows, the cdc needs to get off there a** and start working.

The scarey thing is that everytime I talk to someone, they say they know someone who has hep c. That is so scarey, its just crazy.
