Scientists show brain vulnerable to Hepatitis C vi

They believe C crosses the brain blood barrier (BBB).

http://medicalxpress.com/news/2012-...

That very well may be true. Folks with C frequently are fatigued and unable to concentrate. Brain fog even before tx.

My question is if the C is able to cross the BBB & produce confusion & brain fog, that means either the interferon, ribavirin or protease inhibitors cross it as well. Almost EVERYONE on tx gets brain fog.

HCV crossing the BBB is a concern. I guess if the drugs did not cross the BBB, we could not eradicate any viruses in our brains.

Creepy thought.

" Interesting...according to both gooser's and hepcat's links
HCV is replicated in the brain. I always thought it was only replicated in the liver. "

" Holy Sh!t gooser.

Your article says it can REPLICATE in the brain. OMG! Well, the HCV meds better cross BBB (except I've heard interferon can not cross BBB).

Because if the riba or PI don't cross BBB, the stinking virus can hide in the brain & replicate.

I'm speechless. "

" Now it makes sense that almost the entire time of tx, I complained of an ear ache. Never had a real ear ache b4 and doc couldn't see anything. I had cotton in my ear almost the full 48 weeks w/warm sweet oil on it. Dang buggers were probably replicating in my brain....as brain explosion was in exact same spot~~!!!!
SuperCat....I figured it was wearing vs. eating, I don't wear edible thongs much.... well, not that much~! hahahhaaaaaaaaaa~ "

" does anyone else have a ringing in their ears?

I do and it drives me C-R-A-Z-Y!

Maybe it's the C running around in there. "
