I will be doing my next shot on Sunday and I'm wondering if I should do it in the evening like before or earlier in the day.
I'm asking because.... I had one hell of a night and it was just awful.... I was tired as hell and couldn't get any sleep cos of the side effects. I'm wondering if I do it earlier in the day maybe if I'm not so tired, the sides won't be so bad then I can get a somewhat decent night of sleep. When is the best time to do it? Because even with the Trazedone the sides woke me up.... It was horrible and if there is anything I can do to down play the sides then I want to. Thanks Posted on 10/23/09, 10:10 pm |

Like Cap, I took mine after I got home from my workday...between 5 and 6 p.m. By 9:00 I was ready to crawl under the covers to ward off the chills. Day or night, the sides won't be much different...just depends on when you feel it's best for your schedule.

Well I don't work and I hated being half asleep and then waking up again with that awful feeling. I swear it felt like I had the worst sunburn or my body was on fire but freezing at the same time. I just don't know if I can go through another night like that again. It was the longest night of my life (so far).

I had those same types of sides for probably the first 4 weeks then it got better and then I had them again for about the last 4 weeks. It's not any fun but you can do this...just keep reminding yourself that it will pass. It will pass...it's like a year of riding a rollercoaster...there'll be ups and downs and you gotta face them head on.

you may be letting your nerves and fear exascerbate your symptoms. usually it takes 2-3 months to really get beat down. not sayin its in your head but you have to cop an attitude.

Naw, cos the first three to four hours I was like, yeah okay, I can deal with this and I took my Traz and went to bed and not even an hour after I fell asleep I woke up freezing my nuts off and burning alive. This went on all the night long. Up and down, hot and cold, asleep for an hour up for thirty min. It was horrible.

I think night is better. I did my shots around 7:30pm-8:00pm on Fridays and would get really tired and sleep through it. In the beginning there were some horrible nights. I had the same symptoms you describe, going back and forth between hot and cold. I tried doing the shots earlier in the day and they just made me not want to function. There's no way in hell I would want to stay awake after doing those shot, especially with how tired I got.

Cara,
my doc wrote me a script for a medicine that helped with nausea, phenegrine I think (I am traveling and dont have the bottle with me). Anyways it also makes me sleep pretty well. So I take pill the pill at 9pm and the shot at 930 and then I fall asleep in about 30 -45 minutes....watching a comedy. Except for the first shot I have slept through the night every time. Some people I know told me to take a benedryl (before my doc prescribed the anti-hurling medicine). I know that everyone is different in how they respond and maybe earlier will work better for you. The other thing is that for me, every week the shot has gotten easier to tolerate, but the riba seems to get a little harder...headache mostly....but all in all it is tolerable. It is great to see that you are committed to finishing tx! I was really getting worn down and then once I heard I was responding it was like ..."HELL YEAH! GIVE ME MORE!" I think that once you get your 4 week labs you will be even more inspired to keep going.
