I didnt have one, most say it doesnt hurt

I had one 3 weeks ago. I was left with only a small cut where the needle was inserted. A regular band aid covered the wound. I had to wait 3 hours in recovery to make sure I did not bleed , get a fever and that I started to heal properly. My ribs were a little sore because I had broken some of them on that side before some time ago. But other than that, I was right as rain in 2 days. One, being the day of the procedure. I found there was not much discomfort and very little pain.
I would imagine they would want to know exactly what you test scores were before they decide what treatment to give you. Doc had me get the bio first.

Majority of people do just fine...My 6 year old cousin had to have one, and was running around the next time I saw her (a few days later) My only advise is to find out who is doing your procedure and maybe look them up on healthgrades.com.

That is funny that Yep said her ribs hurt after, because I didnt remember mine until she said that....It might not of been because of the broken ribs because I had some pain there too, so that may be kind of common. (maybe) but it went away fast.

They gave me medication for the procedure so I felt nothing. The medication made me laugh a little. I had pain after wards from having to stay on a rolled up towel for pressure. The day after that is when I was really sore but it was muscle pain from around the area. Over the counter pain pills were not working. I could not get in a comfortable position. Then I used capzasin cream and the pain just melted away. Some doctors will send their patients home with a script for pain medication. They don't want you to lift anything heavy after wards but the procedure itself is really not bad.

I HAD ONE AND THE PAIN AFTER WAS AWFUL. SCARED THE DOC, THEY RUSHED AROUND DOING PORTABLE ERAYS. FINALLY GAVE ME MORPHINE, I WAS OFF WORK THREE DAYS ON PAIN KILLERS. MY SIDE STILL HURTS EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE.

It depends on what your blood work tells the doctor , I believe for the most part. I did a Fibrosure test and then an ultra sound.Geno 2 , stage 1-2 on the liver. As far if it hurts I can not help you with that information. I chose my doctor well , after considering eight different doctors , my hepatologist has been dealing with TX since it's inception. He has done hundreds of liver biopsies and that actually was one of the reasons I chose him and then I did not get a biopsy.

basicly in and out for me very little discomfort an ache in my shoulder of all places but I guess that can be a side of the prodedure other than that right back to the old routine Steve

They'll let you know whether they want you to have a bx first or not.
Mine was done under local, no analgesic, I stayed about 1 hr and drove 125mi home. Yes it hurt, temporarily.
