Got the news yesterday : (

I was kind of depressed and a little tired which is out of character for me which prompted the doctor visit and blood work. I found out I have Chronic Hep C. I was advised to have a liver biopsy. I was devastated I don't know when or how I got it. Just found out through a letter from Kaiser yesterday I have Stage 2 Grade 2. I know nothing more. Another problem is I have a husband that is disabled with many health problems one being he does not have an adrenal gland which means I can't upset him with this or he gets sick literally with fear for me. I don't have anyone else I can share this with so I am looking for support and any help with what to do? I have been the strong one in my family always and don't know how to be the sick one. I found this site online while trying to find out more about this disease. I see from other entrees tho I am lucky. I don't have any other signs other than I am kind of tired and depression. I have no idea what my options are yet, the letter just said call them if I want to get help. I am scared now on so many levels. Can anyone tell me what I could start with? I did read about milk thistle, exercise and diet till I can get treatment. I don’t drink and have not done drugs. I weigh 104 now and am 5’5” tall so what foods would put on weight for a better fighting chance? Any advice?

" first you have to find out what your viral load is. Than you will know if you have to do 24 weeks or 48 weeks. you are in the right place, lots of support here. Milk thistle is good, you will be fine, we all go through this when we first fine out. "

" milk thistie is real good another is licorice root
licorice root stimulates the production of interferon
and inhibit the replication of the hep C virus

As for weight don't use fats as a means to gain weight
Fats will speed up liver damage

Proteins and Carb may help gain weight
Hope your doctor has checked your thyroid for this may
be the reason for your low weight "

" I cried like a baby when I found out. It will sink in with a little time, and reading up on it really helps.

Find out your geno type. When I found out I was geno 2 and it meant better chance of responding with half the time and the decision was easy.

If you can't upset your spouse then you need anti depressants on treatment. I didn't take them but didn't have a spouse to upset so it didn't matter.
I would have needed relacement emergency meds for my spouse if he didn't have an adrenal gland and just upsetting him caused a crises.

Keep reading up on this now because the meds can make it harder to learn and with the fatigue sometimes you might just not feel like it.

Good luck and let us know. "

" Viral load? That tells how many virus per billion, and is an indication of infection rate. She needs to Know what genotype she is. The most common being 1A or 1B, which only have a 50% rate of REMISSION, not cure. Type 2 & 3 have a quicker rat of forcing it in to submission, 24 weeks instead of 48 weeks, and about an 85% rate of forcing it in to REMISSION. Caps indicate it is not a cure, it just means you can't infect anyone else, and you no longer suffer liver damage. Currently, there is no cure for hepC.
I hope soon someone makes a liar out of me. I really do.... "

" My prayers are with you! Stay away from fried greasy foods too... And lots of fresh fruit and veggies. I found out when I was 12 that I was probably born with HCV, and I am a 28 year old wife and mother now. Staying positive is key....

On another note, I just love the way doctors give results now. Remember when they made you come in to DISCUSS your results. Now they make you Google it. "
