Took my first shot Friday...
I still have a lot of pain. Breathing pain, back pain feels like the lungs. just a constant pain in the left side back and below the ribs in front.
I don't think I could handle this unless I know that with each shot it will get better. My doctor said it would get better with each shot but I didn't think there would be this kind of pain, no rest, crying and helpless.
Thought I would feel a little better each day after shot, but not.

" are you taking advill or tynoel? You should. Use a heating pad, it will help lessen the pain . Im so sorry your going through this pain. It does get better but not for a couple of months. Heating pad does help, along with advill or tynoel. Are you taking any nerve pill? I used to put vicks on my chest and back to help the breathing. Just lie down and try to relax. Make sure you eat something even if it is a half a banana when you take your pills. Around the third or four day you should start to feel some relief. Usually the breathing is worse the first month and than it starts to get better. Try to stay calm as getting upset just makes it worse. Hang in there girl, your gonna make it, hugs, hugs, double hugs. "

" If I remember correctly, I think the first two shots were the worst, but it does get easier, just remember to drink lots of water as that will make you not feel as bad also. take care and come here if you need anything "

" I'm so sorry to hear that you are having such difficulties so soon after just starting tx....but I do remember the begiining as being the worse....your body has to adjust to sudden introduction of chemicals....barb gave you wonderful advice.

I myself never had such pain as you describe so have no real advice other than what she said.....I did find however that eating before taking ribo pill and drinking TONS of water helped alot. Tylenol does work in most cases....

I also had to take clonazapam (anti-anxiety pill) but havve for years....you might want to take to your doc about that....also if you continue to feel sad or depressed you might want to talk to your doc about anti-depressants... alot of us on treatment take these it is nothing to be afraid of if needed - I would suggest you call your doc and describe your symptoms and see what he/she recommends.

Treatment sides are different w/all - I was blessed w/pretty gentle sides (ill for 1st 2 days then ok unless I overpaced myself - best thing it to leart to listen to your body).

I do so sympathize for you....if there is anything I can do, research or just let ya vent anytime let me know - I got big shoulders and am glad to help in anyway.

Hang in there - you are right & have great postiive attitude that way that each shot does make you meet your goal but should also get easier as time passes......fingers/toes crossed that you find releif asap......take care of yourself & again you CAN't drink too much water....it is critical....

xoxo "

" Sometimes the shot makes you feel like you have the flu. The sides are different for everyone and can come and go throughout treatment. Some weeks aren't so bad and then along comes a bad one so you can't predict. I feel the shot more a couple days later. A few times I had bad abdominal pain and what felt like kidney pain. Lots of water so you keep the kidneys flushed too.
I used ibuprofen l and capsaicin cream for the aches. Yes be sure to tell your doctor everything. Again lots of water. Don't over do it but don't lie around too much either. All that water should help keep you moving. I sure hope you get feeling better soon. (((hugs))) "

" My dr said no tylenol so just check with your dr first. Maybe ask about an anti depressant, anxiety & depression increase perception of pain.
These rotating pains etc are an expected part of sides, but this is the only treatment available at present to kill the virus.
Let us know how things turn out... "

" My boyfriend, who is not on interferon, had this problem along with some trouble breathing. He finally went to the emergency room and his left lung was full of fluid. It had to be drained several times and occurred as a result of excess fluid build-up in his body due to his liver. Has a doctor listened to your lungs? If it persists, you may want to consider a chest x-ray just to rule out fluid. As soon as they drained my boyfriend's fluid away he felt a thousand times better. At any rate, I would keep an eye on it. Take good care of yourself and have a good day.

" i've felt this pain, too. is the pain in the front under your rib cage on your right side? if so, it's your liver. it's normal.

usually after the shot, my lungs get a little "junky" and i cough up some stuff for a few days. i've heard others say the same.

it's normal to have flu-like symptoms for several days after the shot. hopefully you can sleep thru it. sometimes i sleep for 48 hrs, only getting up to get something to drink and use the restroom. it gets better as the week goes on.

eat a good meal the day of your shot. lean meat, veggies, i like to eat chinese. nothing fried or fatty. ginger helps with nausea. i drink ginger ale, it seems to help.

it's a good idea to get some anti-depressants during tx. i was already taking them, and my Dr upped the dose a few weeks before i started.

it does get better! i'll have a bad week, then a couple really good weeks. then another bad one. mostly i'm just tired, really tired. then there will be sleepless nights, this tx ain't for sissys!! and it's not predictable.

hang in there, don't stop tx! if you need support at anytime, there is usually someone on here--send a msg, it helps to talk it thru. we've been there--just don't give up, ok "
