I got a positive test back today for hbv. I think it must be chronic. I'm in my mid 30's and haven't gotten any blood work back yet. My doctor said my blood last year was fine when I went in for a physical.
What can I expect from this? Until today I worked out 5 times a week and was very active. Can I continue this? I played tennis for hours some days.

I read on here a guy's son was getting some medication and may be cured although I thought there was no cure. Does he mean that the virus is undetectable?

I would love to chat with someone and make some friends that are or have gone through this. Thanks

" Hi, Don't worry, wait until you get the tests back. Either u caught it early enough were medication maybe an option, some folks immune systems fights it automatically and other cases you can be a carrier with no outer visible condition. There is a lot of good information on the web that your Doctor can recommend. I found out about 2+ years ago. Feel free to write me if you need someone to to talk to. It is also great your .om is there for you. You will have ups and downs but please know you are not alone for added support.-D . "

" Only your doctor can tell you if it's chronic. Your doctor should have ordered a 'Hep B core Ab, IGM'. If this test is positive then it means your infection occurred inside the past six months and that means the infection is still acute.

Most people, about 90%, will fight off the virus naturally and develop immunity. The remaining 10% will become chronic. Even as a chronically infected person you may or may not need medication. There is no know cure other than the immune systems natural response.

Some chronic patients (very low rate) will rid the virus from their bodies with medication but it is very rare. Medication is primarily given to protect the patient from ongoing liver damage. Again, some chronic carriers of this virus may not need meds. It's possible for the virus the be inactive.

One of the key things I have learned about this virus is that each case can be very unique. The best thing you can do is get educated. Learn to ask the doctor the questions for which you seek answers. If you have access to a liver disease specialist then you should try and see them. Many GI doctors will not know enough about Hep B.

I gave you a link to another site in you other post. It has been great in helping me learn about this virus. There are some very knowledgeable people there that are fighting this disease just like you and me.

Send me a message anytime. It does help to talk to others that understand what you are facing. I've been diagnosed since June this year. I am acute and hoping to clear the virus through a natural immune response. I am taking no medications at this time. I'm trying to eat healthy and get plenty of rest.

My advice to you is to get educated. Not only about this condition but also about your current state. There are lots of tests your doctor can order to tell whats happening with the virus and your liver.

Good luck and try not to worry too much. You can still live a long and healthy life even with this disease. You just have to know what's going on with it through monitoring. "
