Okay, this will be the second post I have put up. The first one didn't get much feedback and I would really appreciate some from different individuals. I was diagnosed with Hep B in the middle of April. Since that time I have had a endoscopy which I will get the results this Friday, and two extensive blood tests. The doctor has checked the DNA of the virus and it is a new infection, however, my body hasn't started fighting the virus yet. I know that you have to wait six months to see if it goes away or not, but how long does it take for your body to start fighting the virus if it will at all? I have been trying to keep a positive attitude about this situation, but it's hard. I am on the verge of just accepting the fact that I might be a carrier for the rest of my life. But I would like to know from other people when and how long after the infection did their bodys start fighting it? I know everyone is different and I am not expecting definitive answers, I would just appreciate a time frame.

" What did your doctor say about how they can determine if your body is already starting to fight the infection? In my case I have to have a reactive antiHBsAg result, that is when I know that my immune system has developed something to get rid of HBV. I have my blood tested every 6 months for 6-marker hepatitis profile, but sad to say, I remain a healthy carrier of the virus for over 8 years now... "

" Some people never get any symptoms at all during the initial infection, I, being lucky tho, got all of them as bad as possible and they lasted almost exactly six months..........................YUK "

" I was diagnosed with acute Hep B in April, I had all the symptons ,doc said i possibly got it in Feb, I have had blood test done once a month. It is now June and my liver is back to normal, but still have to have another blood test in Sept to make sure all is gone. The main things to do that worked for me was eat lots of veggies and fruits ,No meats, drink lotts of water,No beers or liq, get lotts of rest, and the main thing that helped me with the pain from the arthrisits was a steriod shot. Hang in there it is a long time prosess. "

" Yes I totally agree diet and lifestyle are very important (working on smoking) cause basically our liver filters everything we put in our body's. I am glad you are doing well! My primary doc is recommending I get bloodwork every 90 days................................hugs:) "
