I was diagnosed with hepa b and a reactive hbaeg on my lab results. My Dr. suggested me to drink baraclude which i am drinking for 2 days now.The thing is i'm a bit scared on where the origin of the virus came from. I had been in contact with high risk HIV women in the past although it was safe sex i still could not rule out the posibility of being infected by them.My sister also had hepa b five years ago and with similar condition as mine she has now stoped taking medicine and is already declared non reactive.I read in the internet that drinking baraclude can cause resistance to hiv medicines so I might take an hiv test soon although I am not so sure when because its quite expensive.Just in case I have Hiv when will the resistance take effect when Im drinking baraclude? Is it advisable for me to stop taking it first and wait for the hiv lab results? please help me with good advise.thanks

Here is what I was told by my doctor...Hep B is 60 times easier to become infected with than HIV. I had the same worry when I found out that I had Hep B (also known as HBV)...that I might also have HIV. Luckily I was not...but having HBV is difficult on it´s own...That said, you are correct, you should not be on Baraclude if you suspect you have HIV...this information can be found on Baraclude website. I´m not sure where you are located, but if you are in the US, you should be able to get a free HIV test at your local health department....I´m not a doctor...but this is the best information I have. Good luck

Thanks for the reply. I already had my hiv test just this afternoon and i'm expecting to get the results on monday which will be my 5th day of drinking baraclude. My question is will hiv develop a resistance over that short amount of drinking time? or if I try to stop drinking baraclude 2 days (sat or sun) and resume on monday after I get the lab results, will it have a signifant effect on me or the hep B virus?Hopefully, I will be as lucky as you are. Thanks again.
