I'm only 19, isn't that kind of young? What do I do now? What can I expect? Help of any kind is greatly appreciated.

" I'm really sorry to hear! I just saw a Dr. for my first external and they told me that they could remove it fairly easily. There are tons of suggestions for diet changes that are supposed to help. Fibre seems to be popular. Other than that, not straining, limiting the time you sit at the toilet, really trying to have a good "regularity" and diet, which may mean no longer eating certain things. There's tons of info online, and I'm sure on this group. I just joined...just checking out the threads. "

" I would add that I've seen these last 2-3 weeks, and if you follow the basic guidelines they may go away. Unfortunately there is tons of variations with this info, and each person's situation is unique.

You should definitely see a Dr. to make sure you indeed have a hemorrhoid and not something else.

19 is very young for this problem. I'm 36 and was told I'm young for this problem. I think it's most common above 45. It does get very common though around that range.

Some other basic things are: taking baths (3-4 times a day), and some of the most common recommended herbal remedies are bioflavanoids (you can get them with vitamin C at the store as a diet supplement) and horse chestnut. I've seen tons of other things referred to but the bioflavanoids have actually been tested to some degree whereas most everything else is really word of mouth type of stuff.

I wish you the best! "
