Heart Palpitations

My iron is down in the 100's now and these heart palpitations are as bad as they have ever been. The doctor ordered a scan of some type back last winter and I was told everything appeared to be fine, but sometimes it's just down right scary!

Is there anything that can be done? Do you guys and gals have them? I swear sometimes I start praying "don't take me now please don't take me now!"

Is there a way to tell how much iron is in the heart?

" Heart palpatations are one of the symptoms that never went away for me. I have them atleast once a day. I have gotten very used to them so they do not scare me anymore. I usually have them when i am at rest. "

" I have at least one episode of heart palpitations per day. I never get used to them unfortunately, its one of the symptoms that seems not to have diminished since seeking treatment. Curiously, I had a pronounced episode yesterday in the air while flying on a 12 hour flight, (calm, no turbulence, biz class, comfortable) has anyone else experienced palps while flying?

" Hi, just joined the group after reading the discussions all year. I was diagnosed early 09 with ferritin of about 800 I think, I've had about 8 phlebs and the fatigue went and so did the heart palpitations. Its been 3 months since the last phleb and fatigue is coming back but no heart palpitations yet. "

" Might want to check out the Arrhythmias group regarding palpitations, also known as preventricular contractions (PVCs) and preatrial contractions (PACs). They are usually nonpathological; you can have thousands of them in day and be perfectly fine. They can come and go, you might have them for a week or months and they go away but can return. My current run has been going since last December or thereabouts, and have had over 20,000 per day on some days(based on extrapolations). Should avoid caffeine and energy drinks (ie Red Bull) as these exacerbate the PVCs and PACs. I say should avoid, but I don't...still have my 2 to 4 cups of coffee per day. "

" I was wondering what heart palipitatiosn really feel like. I have hemo and was diagnosed a little over a year ago. I was 24 at the time. My iron was through the roof and the fatigue was so bad I thought for sure I was chronically ill and near death. My heart feels like it flutters sometimes, and I struggle to get a good breath of air in. Also, I have pain in the left side of what feels like my heart, though I can't be too sure. It feels as if someone is just pinching a nerve in there or something. Sometimes my heart races. Sometimes it feels like it is going to pound right out of my chest. Other times it just seems like it is off beat. Are these palipitations? Or something eles?

Any advice or shared storied would be great! Anyone else experience anything like this?

Thanks!

-Sally "
