I am 25 and I have CHF. I am so tired all the time ! I have an 11 Month old and some days I have trouble even making it up the stairs. I was wondering is anyone has had any luck with any vitamins or homeopathic remedies. I purchased a treadmill and the dr. advised me to walk, but I am so tired from taking care of the baby, I have no energy to walk. Has anyone tried supplemental oxygen at home, and did it seem to help? Thanks :)

hi..i cannot imagine your fatigue..it is very hard dealing with the physical side of CHF..and then add a beautiful baby into..no wonder you are tired...your doctor is correct on one thing...walking will make you stronger..its a very safe cardiovascular workout...but i think you may need some help getting to be able to use it...like trying to find some assistance in taking care of your baby so you can take care of you...after all..if you are so worn out..how can yu have any energy for baby...maybe its time to call upon family and friends to really step up and help you out...i have found that noone in my family will refuse my pleas for help ...whats the alternative..wearing yourself to death basically...
i have not tried o2 at home..have not needed it..maybe it would help you very much...talk to your doctor... please hang in there...take care of you...reach out to get some help...you are certainly in need of it...and i admire you..i would have no idea how to take care of a baby while trying to live with CHF...god bless you and your baby... let us know how you are doing...

hi,
could it be you don't have the proper meds at the right dosage? personally my meds help me a great deal. so far i don't really do any walking, i continue to say that i am going to start. talk to your doctor. and as Rer says ask for help from family. best of luck.

Thank you for your kind words. i have spoken with my Dr. about the meds, but I am only able to take low doses because I have very low blood pressure. Still have not found a good mix. :)

You are one brave cookie! I can't imagine tending to a baby at this level of energy. You are doing the equivalent of several treadmills, and it only gets better....I admire you. I think everyone here would say the same. Blessings! (and give that wee one a kiss from me)!

Wow! I don't know how you are doing it. I have not found the right
mix of drugs yet either and I get winded taking a shower. Perhaps social services can help you find a helper of some kind. i hope you get the support you need. Trader Joe has an electrolyte water without sodium or sugar, but gator and powerade help me feel stronger at times. Lasix type drugs can make you weak.

I'm sutre you realize that CHF is actually fluids building up around the heart which makes it hard to breath. Lasix is a good med for that. I had a machine that produced clean air and you wore a nose piece similar to an 02 bottle. That really helped me get some rest. Walking is still the best excersize. I suffered with CHF for 3 years before I had a heart transplant. The doctors were amazed that I walked into the hospital for a transplant. That doesn't happen often.Getting family support and walking . Actually I played golf. Not very fast mind you but I did it none the less. Goodluck to you.

Wow Greg--you are the first person I've heard from on this site that has been through a transplant. How long has it been? How do you feel?
