Driving issues

Sound familiar?

Hubby was on his way home from work around 1a.m. this morning. Said that he started having a "coughing fit" in a curve in the road, and did'nt realize he was ACCELERATING as quickly as he was. He was reaching for his inhaler, when he looked up and saw the BLUE LIGHTS ON HIM. 51 in a 35. I DO NOT know how he managed to gain that speed on thaat road in that curve without fipping. He DOES have a heavy foot, and got a warning for the same thing/different road 2 weeks ago(no coughing fit that time).

Anyone have driving issues, medically related?

Also, he is struggling with tummy aches daily, excessive hunger, "male specific problems", and EXTREMELY dry skin now. Not to mention how VERY BAD the mood swings are becomming, and the memory loss. He is now forgetting things like...his address(numbers), has forgotten MY PHONE NUMBER, can't find his insurance papers, ummm the list goes on. Now, he's not forgotten these things FOREVER, as yet. He just doesn't always remember right away. Like he has to think REAL HARD AND LONG before he remembers...could be minute, hours, or even days. He's getting apathetic about things that matter and equally petty about things that don't. I am scared to "engage" him in marrital duties, because he may end up in the ER again, like once before. Seriously( can I ask here if this is possible)? I am living with a half stranger, who I am terrified to touch him wrong, or speak to wrong. Can stress harm him?

" Excuse me for forgetting, heart meds do it. But was your husband diagnosed with CHF? When I have coughing spells, I pull over. And I had a lot of his same issues until I started faithfully following my diet. As I got things under control, some of the symptoms went away. He needs to take care of himself. In AZ, he would lose his license and go to jail for a speed that high. "

" I understand that he has driving issues. I'm not sure of the age of your husband but I know that one of the last things you should do is stop him from driving (I don't know if you have ever considered this but I know a lot of people stop their spouses from driving when they get this sick.) For the very ill, driving is their last form of independence. When you take that away from them, you're taking away their freedom.
What treatments is he on for this memory loss? Forgetting his own wife's phone number is pretty serious, but I don't know how serious this forgetfulness is. Talk to your doctor.
Take care! You're in a hard situation. Persevere. I'm praying for you.
Best,
Becca "

" My husband is 32 y/o. I am sure NOONE could revoke his driving but the law...haha he won't go down like that! He is on NOTHING for the memory loss/depression/moodswings. Dr. says any meds to treat depression would lOWER his already TOO low vitals. One thing I DO KNOW. His last ER visit, they finally put him on Oxygen AND a breathing treatment, and he had the BEST WEEK he's had in over a year..memory, breathing, everything was nice. Of course, the Dr's will NOT prescribe o2 or neubulizer solution which THEY KNOW help him. It really seems a DIRECT connection between the breathing/swelling and the moods/memory etc...When the first gets BAD the second two follow. I'm just trying REAL HARD to be able to determine when his "attitude" is medical or just him.

Thank you so much for the prayers, as I am with you! "

" I see, all these meds are inhibiting him from taking medications for this! ...what a mess!
Okay, perhaps I'm being stupid here, but hey, I'm a screenwriter, not a doctor. If oxygen or a nebulizer solution would help him, why don't they give it to him? Is it because it will somehow make him sick?

Keep us updated!
Hope all is well right now,
Becca "

" I too, am a writer. Thought I'd add that. I did do nursing school right from highschool, though. I am really just not sure what the deal was.

I know that the ER did NOT write any prescripts that night, when normally they Do atleast prescribe steroids. I left another message somewhere on here about this incident, but I'll summarize it here.

I called and asked his PCP is they could prescribe the Meds and/or Oxygen. I CLEARLY stated who I was from the get go. After I made my request, the receptionist said "I'll write the order but they'll won't get it filled". I asked her why. She said "We are talking about the (our ast name)'s. They don't have insurance, so they won't get it filled". I told her she was rude, that I didn't appreciate that, and I wanted to speak to a nurse or Dr. She refused, and IMMEDIATELY agreed to the prescription, but I told her I would be contacting the BBB, and finding a new Dr. I did just that..still looking for another Dr. That whole episode came from the fact that we took about 3 weeks getting an inhaler because we DID NOT have the 180 for an inhaler, and enough to live on plus. Considering that, I wouldnt be suprised if the ER DID request this presript, and SHE told them the same thing. See...she thought she WAS talking to the ER, when she spoke rudely about us. Her opinon could've stopped that dead on.

Ok the Cardiologist won't prescribe the Neubulizer medicine to go with the inhaler HE prescribed because he thinks hubby needs to go to the Lung DR. We WILL be finding a lung Dr. as well. Right now, were working the paper work for disability. I am also trying to get a position at a local market where I CAN walk to work and work from 4:30am, to 12 noon, then homeschool my kids, cook and clean and be home for hubby to take his nap before HE goes to work from 4pm-1am. I have yet to figure out where sleep is gonna fit into this, but where there is a will there is a way. Somehow, I will overcome this.

Thank you Becca, very much for your concern, and I too, hope all is well as can be for home as well. "

" When my mom couldn't afford her inhaler, I went online and there are a lot of resources for those who can't afford their meds. Have you tried that idea? She now gets her Advair free. "

" I wanted to add that Walmart and I think Kmart have a $4.00 prescription plan. It does not coverall of the drugs. But at one point I had no insurance and needed prescriptions. What I did was rint the documents online that list which drugs are covered by the stores plan and took it with me to my doctor. I then asked her to substitute any that she could, even if they were ot her number one choice for me.I figured something is better than nothing. Worth a shot anyway. I am sorry to hear about all the difficulties you are having. just goes to show that medical treatment should be available to everyone on an equal basis. Good luck. JoAnn "
