I have one more question.... My cardiologist ordered a 24 hr heart monitor... does anyone know how that will help and what information he will get from this? I have had one before and thought it just showed the arrhythmias.

I had one for 24 hours also. I think that it shows like what an EKG would but on a continious basis. It not as complete as an EKG because there are not as many leads attached. I think that It basicly shows what the heart is doing all the time on a continuious bases while it is attached.

My doctor tried that a few years ago. He wanted to see if I was having problems while sleeping that I didnt know about. I tried it, went in to download the info and discovered that the city's giant shortwave radio tower in the next block had scrambled all the signals. fun. he gave up and did a couple of ekgs instead and found nothing. about 5 years later i was diagnosed with CHF through an x-ray for supposed bronchitis.
