Hi, I am new to this group. I have had heart issues for quite awhile but was recently diagnosed with cardiomyopathy. I have done some research and done some reading on the internet. My cardiologist diagnosed this during an angiogram. He says my heart is pumping 30%. I am exhausted most of the time. I have found that I am very discouraged, bordering on depression. I am single, the sole provider for my family, 51 years old. Even though my youngest is 17, I worry about being able to work and provide. I am a teacher and I am on break for the summer. I have 5 daughters, all of them live with me except one who is married. I am really looking for friendship and support from others...

" Hi, hang in there. I'm 55 and went in to the hospital in Nov. '06 with CHF. I was pumping 15% and the doctors said to get on the heart transplant list. YIKES. Now I'm pumping at 30%. I try to get excercize and got a heartrate monitor watch. A Suunto T3, very cool with tons of features. Put in my info and it came up with max heartrate should be 178. Good thing I called the cardiologist, he said don't go over 135. So set the alarm to go off at 135 so I know to take it easy for awhile.

Now the point. :-) Then I was taking one 12.5 Carvedilol twice a day. Did good riding my bicycle and walks in the woods up to one mile. Then the doctor changed me to one 25mg twice a day. I've been on that for a year and am very weak and tired. Walk two blocks and have to stop and rest. And walking up a flight of stairs was bad.

I just changed back to the original dosage a couple days ago. Hopefully I'll be able to get back to my previous activity level. Also in 2 weeks I go for the echo test and then a nuclear stress test to see how I'm doing.

Good luck, Bob "
