I'm 22 with cardimyopathy, I was diagnosed in November 2007 with an ef of 20% January it went to 65% then last October was back to 30% In December it was 50% they put me back on SUPER LOW doses of Lisinipril and Toprol. My BP is always really low to the point where I have a hard time doing stuff. When I go from sitting to standing I almost faint, so they took me off the lisinipril and I only take 12.5 mg of toprol and my BP is still really low, and no symptoms have gone away. I am so confused what I should do. The doctors are saying oh just drink more fluids and EAT MORE SALT.... That is like a catch 22. So my body can't tolerate the only thing that can make me better! Has anyone else encountered this kind of thing with the BP?

" I had the same problem with the heart meds. My BP was already low to begin with and it was bottoming out with the meds. The doctors lowered the dosages and increased it slowly over a period of 6 months so far. It took a while and I was dizzy a lot when I went from sitting to standing fast but it is much better now. "

" Hi Aimeelyn. I'm 60 with ef of 21%. I fought low blood pressure for 6 months after my heart attack 2 years ago. I too have to eat more salt. The thing that helped me most with the standing and fainting part of the deal was to stand slowly. Get out of bed slowly. Get out of the car slowly. Take blood tests often to see how much salt I had to eat. Always too much for my taste. I've learned to live with it BECAUSE the docs found the BP answer in the 6 months AND I've learned how to get up slowly. Good luck, Aimeelyn. Low BP is just as dangerous as high BP. So I take it seriously. Some of us have to be aware we have low BP and always learn how to live with it. Life is a little tough learning how to live with it, but once we do learn, life is wonderful!
