Has anyone had problems remembering things, keeping track of appointments or just the feeling of not being able to focus on tasks? I am 4 months past heart attack, cardiac arrest and double bypass surgery and I cannot seem to keep all the pieces together. I writie lists and my mind swirls with things I have to do. At the end of the day, barely 10% gets done. Still tired, still have the chest pain that everyone says can last a year, can't talk to family or friends anymore...they either worry I'm about to die or they don't understand this feeling of fogginess. People say it doesn't sound like depression but it does to me. Any suggestions? PS, the doctors and most of thworld think I'm fine because I don't look sickly from the outside. If one more person says how great I look, I'm going to scream!!!

" Yes! I tell people it takes me twice as long to do half as much. I had my MI in May and I had 2 stents. I make lists, keep a planner (which I always did before) and I still can't get things done. I let a lot of stuff go (I've lowered my standards!) 'cause somedays I just don't have the energy to do it. I don't have ongoing chest pain like you do; so sorry that you do have this. It must be tough. Is there a support group in your area that you could go to? Or maybe you can think of some MI survivors and give them a call. It helps me to learn that others have been through this and made it. You might also want to talk to your MD about trying an antidepressant and see if that will help. I take an antidepressant and and anti-anxiety med. I'm not recommending meds to you, just telling you what helps me. Everyone must do what is best for them.

Peace and God's blessing to you. Hope you feel better soon. Let me hear how things are going.

" One other thing to add: In my job I type a lot, and my typing sucks! I used to be WAY better then I am now, but I find myself transposing letters quite a lot. Anyway, hang in there. I know that it feels like a long time has passed, but in the big scheme of things 4 months is not that long. I know you can make it!

" Thank you both for the confirmation and the encouragement. Pam, I will talk to my doctor soon (of course our company just changed providers). I had to smile when you suggested finding a local support group because I'd probably forget the meeting time! Today has been a day of smiles and thank you for giving me one more. God Bless! "

" Gracenpeace,

Good for you! Glad to hear you has some smiles. I do try to take life these days one day at a time (a friend and I call it 'living in the moment') , and any day that is a day of smiles is a great day!

" I can sssoo identify with being sick of people telling me I look the best I have in years!! 11-1 will make 7 months for me since my heart attack. I still have depression, severe fatigue, memory loss, and lack of concentration. Everyone keeps telling me it is normal and it will get better. I'm wondering when "better" will happen!!

" You sound like me! Its been a little over a month, and OMG! I forgot about thanksgiving. I did not buy anything to prepare, and in truth I don't even want to. I am exausted! I see all I have to do and sit in front of the computer instead.I cannot talk to my kids, cause they obviously think I was on vacation for 5 days instead of in Icu in reno. Yes I am depressed!
But, You have to force yourself to get back into the swing of things. And for everyone that says you look great, answer Looks can be deceiving. "

" I hope you begin to feel better soon, because life really is too short to sit around forgetting why we're here. I hope that made sense, but if it didn't just smile cause i feel just like you. "
