Hi Everyone,
I had a HA on 5/24/09. I've been back to work full time since August 31, and worked 1/2 days for the 3 weeks before that. In the last 3 weeks I have experience tremendous shoulder/neck pain, especially in my left shoulder. It hurt when I breathed, and hurt down into my back. I've use NTG, which didn't help. So I went to my PCP on 2 occasions, he did 2 EKG's and saw nothing that would indicate the pain is heart related. He gave me prednisone which I took for 4 days and it did help the pain. However, the prednisone made me jittery and made my heart feel funny so, since the pain was gone after 4 days he took me off it. A week later the pain returned. I went to the chiropractor yesterday and went home sick. He did an adjustment and suggested ice packs 3x/day for 20 minutes. I go back to him tomorrow. Today, my left shoulder hurts, and it hurts up into my left throat when I take a deep breath.

Has anybody experienced this or know anything about it? I am at my wits end and am tired of trying to figure out what is wrong with me and what to do about it.

Thanks ever so much for any advice/suggestions you can give me!
Pam

" I really don't think so. After several more days of the pain I think it is anxiety and stress. My husband thinks the same thing. I am some better today. I'm going to take it day by day and see how I do.

I know you must have dealt with anxiety after your HA. How did you handle it? "

" Hi there, I have also experienced some left shoulder/arm/neck pain. Had a heart attack on 12-5-08. I can't figure it out but think it may be some side effects from medication they are giving me. "

" 2nd chancer,
No, you don't sound mean at all. I told my husband not long after my MI that God could take my life at any time and the fact that He spared me must mean He has a reason for leaving me here.

Thanks to everyone for your posts. My shoulder pain is much better. I do think it was stress related so I worked on that and I went to my chiropractor who also helped some. I think the whole stress and axiety thing is something that I will have to work on and will take time.
Thanks again to everyone. Y'all are the greatest!
Pam "

" I had a head ache that lasted 24 hours, pounding like a toothache! so I used a heating pad under my neck and wala it helped. It's very difficult to return to normal life, after a ha. I am thinking of walking around with a giant sign on that will say HELLO! I AM the HEART ATTACK victim here not you. I really hope you feel better and ask your pharmacist about the side affects of whatever your Dr, prescibes. Because sometimes they will affect you negatively. For instance I was given Zanex for anxiety, and sunk into a deep dark depression. @ weeks ago I was prescribed ativan and it was very similar to the zanex. please feel better mentally, because thats what will honestly help you get through this.
