Hi everyone,

I'm having a nuclear stress test on Tuesday, July 7. Have any of you had a nuclear stress test and can you tell me what to expect? I'm afraid. There! I've said it! It's so hard to admit I'm afraid. How silly of me. I've always had to be brave and I'm really not so brave after all.

Anyway, info on the nuclear stress stest would be much appreciated.

Happy thoughts and prayers to all. You have all been so very kind to this newbie!

Pam

" Hi Pam
I've had this test many times and there is nothing to be afraid of. The test is a two day test the first day they hook you up to a ekg and have you walk on the treadmill until you hit your target then they inject a nuclear dye so the can take pictures of your heart at work. The second day you go in and they inject the dye to take pictures of your heart at rest. Nothing to it.
Hope everything is well.

" Hi Dinz
Did they take 2 sets of pictures? I did the treadmill then they injected me and I had to wait an hour before they took the pictures. Came back the next day and they injected me and I had to wait again. I've had this test done about 6 times and it always the same. "

" I was told that the test would take 5+ hours and given a list of things to do and not to do: don't take metoprolol 48 hours before, don't drink caffeine 24 hours before, don't take meds or eat the day of the test, bring food to eat before the test is over, bring a blanket cause I might get cold, wear a blouse without metal buttons. Whew! That list of do's and don'ts had me going! I had to go over it with my husband to make sure I got it all together.

Nothing was said about coming back the next day or anything like that so as far as I know I'm just on for Tuesday.

Happy thoughts and prayers to all!

" I had a Cardolite stress test, done one day. Walked on the treadmill, injected something to speed up my heart. Talked while going on, Then sit awhile and rested, Went in for anotehr scan of my heart, One was done before stress test then one after stress test. Just lay there and this machine rotates around your chest and takes pictures. "
