I'd like to hear from some of y'all who use NTG. Do you use it often? What symptoms do you have when you use it? Does it give you the relief you need? Did you use it more when you first came home from the hospital and then taper off? Or do you still find that at times you have to use it more? Does it give you a headache when you use it?
Thanks to all! Happy thoughts and prayers go out to eveyone! Pam Posted on 06/27/09, 10:06 pm |

I use nitro i've had 3 heart attacks, started using it after my 1st heart attack. I use it when I think i need it, but I don't use it all the time.
I have found if I have a problem and use nitro, then I don't have a head ache. But if I do get a headache then I probably had nothing wrong with me just my imagination. Better to play than sorry. I also use the slow release form of nitro 2 times a day, ISOSORBINE DN. The thing about nitro is you can build a tolerance to it if you use it to much. I hope this helps some. Ray

Hi Ray,
Thanks for your input. I didn't know you could build a tolerance to it. I don't use it every day, but I have used it often in the last couple of weeks since my MD prescribed it. Sometimes I can't tell if I really need it or as you said it's my imagination since I'm a newbie. I don't ever get a headache, although I have been told it can cause headaches. Thanks again and happy thoughts and prayers to you! Pam

I was given nitro after having had a heart attack but I had a bad reaction to it, fainting and feeling ill, so the doctor prescribed Imdur for me. I take it every day, not sure if I really still need it or not, but he hasn't taken me off of it yet.

I also use nitro, the minitran patches and the spray. I use it sometimes a few times a day or depending on how I feel not at all. I find that if I'm quite active and tired I get a pressure feeling in my chest, the nitro relieves it. I don't know why I seem to get more discomfort when I'm tired. And yes, I also suffer from headaches.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the comments on NTG. Some days I have to use it and some days not. Like CindyLW, when I get tired I sometimes get a tight feeling in my chest and it helps. It doesn't give me a headache, however. Keep 'em coming! Pam

I was givin nitro also and said only to use it if I thought I was having another attack and to call 911 right away. I had a milder heart attack though, maybe people with a more severe case need to use it?

My script says use it if I have chest pain every 5 min, no more than 3 in a 15 minute period. If I am still having chest pain after that call 911. I do find that I've used it less in the last few weeks than when I first came home from the hospital (thankfully)
Thanks for all your comments! Pam
