Hello all you club members out ther!
I know that everyone is different but this is new to me and I wonder has anyone had any of these 'symptoms' after their MI? diarrhea back/shoulder pain heart 'twitches' or feels 'itchy' My cardiologist thinks the diarrhea and back/shoulder pain is a side effect of Zocor, so she took me off the med and said it could take up to 2 weeks to see if it will get better. She had nothing to say about my twitchy, itchy heart (Doesn't that sound like a bad country song? HA!) I just wondered what some other experiences are since I am a newbie. Happy thoughts to everyone! Hi Spittman and everyone;
My back/shoulder pain has gotten better. I have some should/neck pain, but I think that is tension and I'm working on it. The flutters are scary, but I called my MD who said it's pretty common; however, in the beginning, like you I wondered if I was having another MI. I have been to cardiac rehab once and here is what I did: I had to answer a lot of questions for paperwork and be 'admitted' to the hospital where the CR is located, although I am not inpatient. An RN took by blood pressure sitting, standing, and after I had walked on a treadmill for 6 minutes. Also, she listened to my heart and took a pulse ox reading. I was hooked up to telemetry while I walked on the treadmill. Walking on the treadmill is different from walking at home! I had to take a few seconds' break. I go back to CR on Friday, and will be doing it 3xweek for 12 weeks. Also, there is a nutrition class my husband and I will attend. I will post what I do so that others can have the information. Knowing more about others' experiences has helped me tremendously, and I hope my posts help others. Hope everyone is having a great day. My prayer is that all who read this will feel better and have greater confidence today. Pam

humm... my doctor told me to go to the seminar. Life after an MI. it was a class on what to eat, what not to eat, excercise and how to use heart motinor while working out.
My heart attack was very mild and am 35 maybe this is why I am not doing rehab. Thanks for the clarification

Hey everyone,
Thanks for all your posts on my 'unusual' symptoms. I wanted to give an update. The shoulder/back pain and diarrhea are gone. Apparently they were a side effect of the Zocor I was taking. I'm taking Crestor and have had no ill effects from it so far. The itchy twitchy heart problems are much better. I am taking alprazolam because I was just a mess emotionally and that has helped to calm me. I think part of my itchy twitchy was nerves. I will say that in the evening especially if I am tired I still have that symptom or a little tightness in my chest. Thanks again to everyone! I really appreciated your input and am so glad I found this website. It has helped me tremendously and I hope that I can do the same for others. Pam

Yes, that twitchy feeling could be spasms of gas circulating through your chest area. I had that for several months after my heart attack and it was scary. The doctor didn't really prepare me for the reactions I would have. I'm not sure if it was the medication or not, but although I still have gas problems the spasms seem to have gone away.
