Heart Attack Support Group

Hi 2ndChancer. Can't say I am exactly thrilled at being in the "Heart Attack" club...as I'd much rather be part of the "Ingrown Toenail" club or something...but, this support group has really been a blessing to me. And, I also feel I am not alone in some of my recent struggles. It's good to hear from folks who have overcome great adversity...it gives me hope.

Thank you for being an active member of this Support Group. Have a blessed day...and a blessed life the 2nd time around.

Welcome to the club!!!! This is a very helpful site. My story is as follows - Oct 20th 08 my Father N Law of 22 years passed away. The next day Oct 21st 08 I had to have my second spinal fusion and on Nov 16th 08 I had a massive heart attack. I now have a stent in my heart. It's been 6 1/2 months. I have my ups and downs. I have changed my diet, do PT and get exercise 3 x a week. I still smoke, but I have cut down alot. I know it is stupid of me. Until I can get my pain in my back down, I'm not sure I can and plus the aniexty. I'm truley doing alot better when it comes to my heart. I almost died! I was misdiagnoised by my family doctor 2 times. He thought I was just having aniexty from my Father N Law passing and the spinal surgery. Sent me home two times with aniexy meds. I ended up at St, Joesph's hospital and woke 2 days later to find out I had to have a stent put in my front artery. My cardio doc wanted the EKG from my family doc. When he got it - it read abnormal. He should of sent me straight to the hospital. I sat at home for a week having multi heart attacks. The first time after the HA at my 1st cardio doc appt. He walked in and said to me - I never thought I would see you sitting up again. I looked straight at my husband as he was shaking his head at the doctor - he never told me I almost died. The pastor was called in 2 times and told my husband to start making arangments. By the grace of God I here to tell my story. Does your cardiologist know you still smoke? My cardiologist was telling me the other day that he kicked a patient out of his practice becuase she did not stop smoking.

I crave smoking sometimes specially right after I go into the hospital :) I get stressed, this used to be the only time that I smoked.

Yes he does!!! He doesn't like it!! But he knows I have cut down ALOT. I might smoke 5 to 10 a day. I have so many stresses in my life right now. I'm working on it!!!!! Thanks for caring. Big Hugs, Peach

What an amazing story! Like you I have - and still am - dealing with anxiety which I know is not good, but what can you do? Right now I am taking it one day at a time and trying to make that day the best. I seem to struggle often with what I can't do right now, but I'm focusing on what I can do.

Welcome to our group. I had my heart attack in 2001 when I was 39. I had the widow maker heart attack. I suffer from ptsd and the docs were using drugs to control my stress and they caused me to have an early age heart attack. I went alternative medicine and reversed my heart desease but I stopped doing the treatments and allowed to much stress in my life and I think I had another one last week. I went to the cardiologists today and my blood pressure was stage 3. totally uncool. So now I am back working on getting it down and trying to do all the right things. again

I'm new too, going through the aftermath of a heart attack really sucks, but it does get better over time, kindest regards to all
