" Hi my name is Kathi. I think I am the elder in the group. Which is an honor. I am 64 yr old. I lost my hearing for the second time around. (more in my profile) this is the result from ear infections, rock & roll from the 60's, and working in a sheet metal shop.

I live in the land of frozen tundra Minnesota.. 30 below Brrrrrrrrr. I work in a county teaching hospital in the emergency room. I am a mother of 2 adult daughters and 7 grandchildren. "

" Heys I'm Amanda. I'm 17. I am not entirely sure of how bad my hearing loss is. I was deaf from the time I was 6months old-18months, I had 4 sets of tubes to fix this. Currently I have some pretty bad scars in my ears. I had my hearing checked about 4 years ago and yes my hearing isn't very good. The doctor basically told me that with the hearing loss i have that hearing aids aren't an option(i'm not really sure she even could understand my hearing loss apparently it's not too common). I'm okay talking to someone but if there's more than 1 sound at a time I struggle(like i can't hear someone if there's music playing). So yah that's me.... "

" Hi, Iam Shelli (tomi). Born many moons ago with mod-severe non-repairable sensorinural, hearing loss. Have dealt w/ @ 23 yrs, of "on the job abuse", only to quit job, after cannot take anymore. Thus, I've had many many diff. jobs. In 1997 I slipped at work, landing smack on my ass, herniating 2 disc. Now they've discovered a 3rd bulge disc. I have extreme back, legs, feet, butt, groin pain, especially after phy. laborish jobs. Even home jobs such as raking, housecln. But no one will do surgery, I have state med Ins.
Mental anguish from employers etc, the back pain...........I've applied for SSI/DI, have been denied 2x. Waiting on an answer.
Also 42 yrs of IA & CO winters, Iam getting real depressed during winter Cloudy days.
My spouse works, thx God. but cannot save enuff to escape the cold deary winters. AZ or NM, southern parts would be nice. I used to be smiley & nice, now I feel grumpy, sad, tired, everyday. So sorry for the doom & gloom. I do see in my mind, us living someplace toasty & warm year round. Heck we've been trying for 4 yrs now to get moved, but no luck on job search long distance. Nor luck with quest of ssi/di "
