I am going to be fitted for a cross over hearing aid and I was wondering if anyone has tried this technology. Do you like it? Any helpful hints for using it?

" There are so many types of hearing aids out there. I have not heard of "cross over". How does it work? "

" I might not be calling it the right thing. Since they can't amplify for my right ear, they are going to set me up with two devices. The one in my right ear (my deaf ear) will have an FM transmitter in it the will send the sound to a device in my left ear. That is the receiver and it will allow the natural sound on the left side in, while transmitting the sounds I can't hear on my right. So, virtually I will have two ears in one ear! Sounds kind of weird. I hope it works. I wish I could figure out why I went deaf ... I have this feeling that if someone could just give me a good reason that maybe it's just this underlying condition waiting to be discovered and treated... and the tinnitus is driving me insane! "

" Hi There,
After I replied yesterday I researched "cross over" thinking maybe it would help my DH.
He is HOH in both ears so it wouldn't be an option for him.

I hope you do well with it and it brings back some claritiy you may be missing right now. :)

My DH suffers from tinnitus too, Poor guy, so that cuts down his ability to hear even more. I honestly do not know how all of you cope with just the tinnitus.

When will you get fitted and be able to get used to it? Before you start the new school year? "
