A good friend of mine invited me to her house for Thanksgiving. She is a single mom and spends most holidays by herself. She lives 3 hours away. My boyfriend does not want to go with me because he works really long hours and just wants to stay home and relax that day and not have to be on the road for 6 hours. Also - it is near the 'turf' of my ex which makes him a little uneasy. He says it is fine with him if I go there for the day. But I feel bad going and leaving him by himself since this is our first holiday season together. I am at a loss here...

Can you invite your friend and children to come and stay with the 2 of you?
They could spend one night and leave the next day. I think that would be great fun. Get some games and stuff to play...??

Inviting her over sounds like a good option. Just use the excuse your BF is working and can't drive out there. Otherwise go see her. Guys are usually happy watching football all day. Just make sure you leave him some chips and beer. ;-)
