can I hear from other healthcare workers?

I am here because i work in the health care and want to hear others' especially those who also work in the health care field. There is not enough voice from nurses, therapists, technicians, aids that are expected to "speed up the treadmill" lately. It seems that the loudest voices out there are the lawyers, and it's time to stop practicing so much defensive medicine. It affects the patient, but also us bedside people more than most people not in the health care field know. We are not just a bunch of uncaring, negligent, soap opera types. The fact is most of us really do care and that is why we are pushed to the limit only to hear as we run from one room to the other , pass the elevator, starving because we should have had our break hours ago, what a lousy job we are doing from another unhappy patient, family member or commercial on the television. Truthfully, we have compassion. Even the most burnt out looking caregiver wants to do a good job. What doesn't help is media negligence. let's be a voice that matters. It's time for our own health to stop paying for the crookedness that got the health care field to where it is today. It is not just one president's fault it is from years of money hungry negligence. Talk to me. What are you concerns about the future of health care 'workers'. What are we going to do about it? We can start somewhere, how about here? What about end of life care and how it is handled? What should be done? Does our industry thrive too much on lack of public education? Have we spent enough of our lives not speaking up, because we can 'take on more'? Aren't our administrators forced to 'appear' like we are the top health care provider with a lot of ' yes people ' that are providing reports that keep within the budget and present unrealistic outcomes? what about JCOAH preparation to keep credentials. We need a reality check, don't we?

" Having been at a hospital everyday for the last 63 days, and in reputable places, the care for my mother is mediocre' and I have no doubt healthcare workers are overwhelmed!I have offered to come and bath my mother, I change her, or she'll have to wait longer than you should have to lay in your own urine. Just my observation, "

" I must say there are a few good health care providers like you, but most don't care, they are only there for the paycheck. Other problems are because medical facilities are under staffed all the time. Office visits consist of sitting and waiting for hours to be seen for your appointment due to the lack of over scheduling. Seems to me the health care system isn't there to help patients, its more like an assembly line, (lets see how many ptients we can get in today) It's all about the money the Dr's make, not about caring for the patients medical needs.
My hat off to you for caring we need more like you in the medical field. "

" I am working in mental health and I agree with you completely. Why do we not hear from, not only the uninsured, but the people who cannot get care in spite of insurance? The services offered by my agency are only available here, and they may be badly needed but in the case of a person with enough income to have private insurance, we are too expensive for them! It's stoopid! "
