I was just wondering if anyone has had their soft pallet removed due to hardening from radiation treatment?
I had mine removed which allowed me the ability to breath ( which is always nice). The downside is that I lost the ability to talk. I was lucky that A Doctor at UIC Chicago developed a device that fits in my mouth easily and allows me to speak. After a few years i sound good just a bit nasilly (sp). Anyway, I am always hoping that their has been advances that can allow me to eat, and speak the way I used too. I also want others to know that this device is out there and if you have had yours removed, you can speak normally again. Any other advances or good treatments for flexability in the neck or for the cramps would be welcome. Also, what are you guys doing about your teeth? Being that I have no saliva, I need to create my own floride through a rince. I tried the floride tray and that is really horible. Posted on 01/09/09, 03:01 pm |
