My father found out he has sinus cancer on May 5th . Since then they found it is around his main artery, Pituitory Gland, Nodes in his neck. No treatment started yet and he is so weak. I have never seen him look so weak in my life. He doesn't leave his bedroom and only drinks Ensure milk shakes. What is going to happen when his treatment starts. My family just hates this waiting. He goes for a PET scan on Tuesday. I would like to know if his former employer a major chemical giant has cases already reported. Does anyone know of any groups that could help me on this. My assumption is they would think I was sue happy. All I want to find out are there others who had worked at the same place with the same illness. And did they beat it and if they did were there any special treatments done. This is just so hard. I never thought his teeth would be an issue. Should he have them pulled now or hope for the best. Should he have a feeding tube put in now or later. I just love him and want to take his pain away. Sorry if this rambling doesn't make sense.

" I do not know anyone who worked at a major chemical giant's plant. Sorry to hear about your father. I have parotid cancer. The most helpful things people have done for me is just let me know they love me. While we are alive there is still hope. A doctor told me a year ago I had a year to live, but I'm still here. "

" I don't know about how he got his cancer. I don't smoke or drink and I got tonsil cancer so he may or may not have gotten sick from his work.
What I do know is he should go to a good dentist and have his teeth looked at so he can have any problems fixed before he goes into Radiation treatents. If he has to hae radiation, the doctors will arrange for him to be looked at. But he should see his regular dentist. If he has to have radiation in his neck area, he will probably lose some of his saliva glands and hae some dry mouth like me. It's a pain but there are things you can do for it and some of my glands survived and are slowly getting a little better. As far as eating goes I lost a lot of weight and reccomend the ensure but I also would advise all the anti-oxidant drinks he can get down before chemo and radiation. Things like the "naked juice" brand of drinks. the doctors wont want him to drink those while he's getting treated, but before and after I would get all the nutrition he can. I will of course pray for his recovery and tell you that as scary as it is, he can make it through of he has enough love from his friends and family. It takes a lot soetimes, but he may sail through easier than he thinks. The doctors will hedge their bets and give a lot of worst-case-senarios, but just realize cancer isn't a death sentance, it's just anther pain in the btt thing we have to get through.
And love him all you can. "
