depression and scared

my mom has just under went surgery and they removed her tongue,voicebox,lymphnode on left side and massive tumor in her thoart that was stage 4 she now has a feeding tube,stoma,and has to start chemo and radiation here soon,she is so scared and depressed,i was just wonderin if there was someone out there who can give me some advice on how to help her make it though this,she does seem to think she will make it though chemo because it killed her father in 1992 or 93
