I have an extreme case of foot caullousse that covers the entire base of both my feet. I also suffer from an extreme case of toe nail fungi that is very painful, I have been unemployed for the past year and a half and have no health benefits.
SSI has turned me down saying that my case does not constitute a disability! My feet have contributed a double hernia that I am about to have surgery for. This whole thing has me so depressed, I am very concerned for my future and what I am supposed to do to survive. This isn't fair, my father and both my grandfathers are War veterans who fought for our country. I have served my community feeding the elderly in assisted living passionately and cant believe that there is no help out there. What the hell is wrong with this system? My condition is hereditary! Many people in my family suffer from this disorder, and seem to have the worst case probably from working on my feet anywhere from 10 to 12 hours a day. Is there anyone out there that suffers from a similar condition? Or who can help me get the benefits I need? Posted on 09/20/07, 08:09 am |

If your case does not constitute a disability, WHY EXACTLY does it not qualify? I would find someone to answer that. Then I would find a doctor who would write up the case in a way that they WOULD find it a bonafide disability.
Surely you can appeal it if you have a supportive doctor and enough information to fight. I know it's hard to fight when you're beaten down, but please give it a try. And let me know what happens. We need far more discussion in this group!!

Have you been turned down only once?
I was turned down 3 times, then finally i was approved. I have heard from various people say that usually it take 3 turn downs. And, no this is not fair. I went a whole year and a half with no income at all. Just keep appealing it and have a supportive God Bless, and Good luck
