" It seems that you have BOTH high risk(increases your risk of cervical cancer) and low risk ( which causes warts). That being said.."high grade cell change means that there has been changes to the cells in the cervix. The colop. biopsy will tell whether the changes to the cells are worse or better than the PAP indicated. The high grade doesn't mean that you have cancer.. just means that the cells have changed from what they should normally be...and catching it in time BEFORE they eventually may become cancerous cells.

you can get thru this..try not to stress..take care of your body..you need to help your body help itself..eat fruits/veggies (espec. leafy greens)take a multi w/ folic (my gyn told me to take l-lysine. they both help in cell growth/maintenance/removal of damaged cells) I also found a natural supplement called Papillex ( rec. by naturopathic docs)...check out there site.

you'r not alone in this...keep your head up.. "

" The PAP is accurate, just can't telll the severity of the cell change..hence the need for the colop....I just meant that the change in cells doesn't necessarily mean you have or will get cancer. ...hopefully your colop will turn out ok..keep me posted. "

" I am not sure that you have the correct terminology. Did your doctor actually state that you have "high grade" cell changes or did she say you have the DNA for "high risk" cell changes? Its not unusual for a PAP to be normal and then show dysplasia either on the next PAP or on examination with a colposcope. Usually there are only small areas that have dysplastic cells, and may not be picked up on the first PAP. You can have high risk cell changes and still just have very mild dysplasia. The terminology "high grade" could mean something else. You really need to estasblish good communication with your OB/GYN when you go in for your colposcopy. It really is not a matter of "catching it before it gets worse". The procedures to remove damaged cells i.e. LEEP, do not get rid of the virus per se. Nothing eradicates the virus other than your own immune system. It is usually really better to just wait and get repeat PAPS or colpos every six months for mild dysplasia than to rush to any procedure. The procedure just removes damaged cells, not the virus and any procedure causes scar tissue that can sometimes cause problems. At your age mild dysplasia almost always clears on its own. If it really is a higher grade dysplasia, CIN 11 or 111, then you would need a LEEP procedure. With moderate dysplasia or higher, you really need to get rid of the damaged cells before the dyplasia progresses. However, with mild dysplasia, it really makes more sense to just watch and wait. My body cleared mild dysplasia, and I was 53 when diagnosed. It took about 2 years, but I was just watched closely with repeat colpos. I never even had a biopsy, she could tell that the dyplasia was very mild and just made sure to take enough tissue for the PAP from the affected areas. You should also ask about getting the vaccine, to at least avoid getting any of the 4 strains it protects you from, that you might not already have. Since you are feeling so apprehensive about this, I would call your doctor and see if you can get clarification about what exactly the PAP really showed. High risk, and low risk are two completely different types of this virus, but often coinside. You did not have low risk cells that suddenly became high risk cells. Genital warts are not much different than common warts that occur on hands and feet. They are a totally different strain than common warts, but are mainly annoying and unsightly, but not dangerous. That virus never "becomes" high risk, or high grade. However, both types are as common as the common cold, so the chance of contracting both, even from one partner is quite common. You do need to keep your nutrition up. There are nutrients that can help you clear the virus more quickly.....or at least it has seemed to help some people...i.e. Lycopene, Indole 3 Carbinol or DIM, folic acid.....
Don't smoke, or have unprotected sex with a smoker.

I understand that you "just want to get it over with", but it doesn't really work that way with this virus. You need to give your body a chance to fight this. At your age, mild dyplasia and GW almost always clears on its own with time, and moderate dyplasia can be addressed with LEEP, and your body will heal itself after that. My nephews wife had moderate dysplasia and LEEP in her twenties, and 2 years ago had a healthy baby girl in her thirties. This is NOT going to ruin your life, even though when first diagnosed it can feel that way. First get all the facts about what you are potentially dealing with. Its frustrating that men cannot be tested for high risk HPV, so have no idea they carry it and pass it on to us, and often don't have overt symptoms even of GW. Both men and women can have the GW virus without ever getting an actual visible wart.

Try to relax, and see if you can talk to your doctor. You really need a good rapport with your doctor. My doctor talked to me quite a bit on the phone before and after office visits addressing all my concerns. This was very helpful.

Good luck with all of this. I am confident you will be fine. "
