I was dianosed with HPV /high risk/ in April and I was in shock, embarrased, and scared that I have not told my family or boyfriend...

I have not cheated on my boyfriend and I understand that it can be dormant for years before it is detected. I am scared of what my family will think of me and is just looking for some sort of support from others in this type of situation..god bless

" i just found out 1 month ago and actually didn' tell my hubby for a week..buthe knew something was wrong. I eventually had to say something. Be honest..tell him the facts about it (never knew who gave it to who..body usually clears itself, etc) maybe even talk to your doc and see if they can sit w/ both of you to talk about it. My hubby was so relaxed about it...he went on line did some research and said it was like we had the cold since it's just as common "

" was your pap normal. hopefully your doc let you know what you can do to help your body fight/suppress the virus.

In the beginning I felt dirty, embarrased, scared too. felt like everyone knew when they look at me. One month later..i'm on the road to feeling more "normal" everyday..and so will you. We are like the millions of pple out there whohave it..we should happened to find out. you don't have to tell your family if you're not ready to...I haven't because don't know whatpurpose it would serve currently.. " thank you so much for your support! Your words and info truely help at this time. I was diagnosed with HPV in April and my pap in August said I was normal. and my doctor was not much help to me in anything that would fight the virus. But I have researched and found that Vitamins A, B, and C all help fight the virus. But if you have any other info it would be greatly appreciated! take care and thank you "

" Just so you know...men are carriers of HPV....so you said that you didn't cheat on your boyfriend....well, you wouldn't have to. He more than likely has it and gave it to you. It is also possible that you've had it for awhile and it's been dormant.
I also went thru feeling dirty, etc. It was only the second time I had ever had sex (at the age of 30!)....I had waited so long to even have sex...then this happened! ugh! But I can say...now, 18 mos later...(I was diagnosed in mar/Apr 08)....that I'm doing ok. The high risk one resolved itself pretty quickly. I still have warts but they are few and far between. Stay strong and healthy!! "

" Christine: FYI..we're all carriers..men just rarely have symptoms and hope that you're keeping an eye on your high risk HPV.
MsSteph:
.Shame on your doc for not helping you understand how you can help your body fight the virus! My gyn office told me to take a multi w/ folic(you may want to take an additional folic supplement) and L-Lysine. Both help in production of healthy cells/cell maintenance.
I just started taking Papillex..check out their site. It's a natural supplement that contains 10 ingrediants known to help the body boost it's immune system. Heard about it on another HPV support community (usualy recommended by naturopathic doctors.

good luck ladies!! "

" almost everything you read will tell you that men are carriers. This means they have it...don't show symptoms (most of them) and unknowingly pass it along. It is impossible for a man to know if they have it unless they have some symptom (warts) as there are no tests for them.
No worries I have had 3 paps and my high risk has been gone for over a year. I am not worried about. "

" Christine..glad that your hpv has been gone for a year!

the research doesn't say that men are carriers...yes they rarely have symptoms...BUT there are millions of women who are infected and never know it because they never have symptoms either..and they can pass it to an unknowing guy just like the guys can to us!

wanted/needed to clarify slightly misleading info.. "
