hello...I am wondering the same things that you are...just diagnosed yesterday and I am freaking, my hubby and I have been together for over 8 years, this hit us like a ton of bricks. I feel so freaking ashamed and dirty, I just cannot believe that I actually have genital warts.

My only lesion is very small....my gyno removed the other one entirely when she did the biopsy (never again holy crap that hurt like hell!)

Everything I am reading about the at home cream treatments sounds freaking like a nightmare and so scary. I am leaning towards having my doc do the TCA application, but would like to know something about the pain levels from someone who has already had the treatment...anyone out there care to share?

I had GW once and still get them here and there. I did all the smart thing going to the doctor and all that jazz. Let me tell you, I wouldn't suggest the doctor because all they use is a 12% acid to kill them. Come back in two weeks and get another treatment. If you have Genital Warts I would suggest just going up to the drug store and buying some Doctor Scholl's Wart Remover. It says on the back that you should not use it on GW but that is just a safty precaution. The Doctor Scholl's you buy in the store is the same stuff that the doctor uses. The only differce is it cost $1000 less! Just apply it as often as you need. I would apply mine in the mornings. Then maybe take a bath later that night and apply more. Let yourself air out. Sleep with no underwear or shorts on. Hope it works for you! Happy Halloween! :)

So I know it's been a few weeks but just wanted to share my thoughts. I had the acid treatments done when I was only 16. And it worked like a charm for me. Yes, it was uncomfortable, however, the peace of mind it gave me after my last treatment/checkup was totally worth it. Unfortunately now, six years later, I think I have some internally again. Whether this is an outbreak from the once-latent strain I had then, or from a recent encounter--I will never know. But I would definitely recommend it and plan to go through to the process again if my suspicions are true.
All I know is the Aldara has never done anything but make me extremely uncomfortable (itching, burning) and I don't feel it's gotten rid of any small lesions. Hope all goes well, keep your head up!

I don't think the acid is that bad. It hurts about the same as using the compound W if you use enough of it. I've had it done probably about 5 times or so. I've used the compound W twice, you just have to make sure not to use the same cuetip twice. What I've been using lately is Wartrol, it probably would take the same amount of time as aldara to work but it's $50 a bottle, you spray under your toungue and it doesn't burn the crap out of your genitals. I have been on the wartrol for probably about a month and that with the compound W I think is working. The first time they used acid on me it worked but they came back and now when they do it I see no result. I also found out I have a thyroid problem with means my immune system isn't working right. Make sure your immune system is in tip top shape. Take vitamins, try the wartrol and you an OTC acid if you want to try that. It burns for maybe five minutes or so but it's a gradual burn, it doesn't sting right away so you can prepare yourself. It's not comfortable but always remember to take the cheaper and more naturally healthy route, it's better for you in the long run.
