Bloodwork Results

So I just had my 3 month bloodwork done and I know there is no such thing as “normal” progression but I’m alarmed by the changes. I’ve been positive for a little over a year now and my CD4 count has all stayed in the mid 900s, which I’ve been really happy about. Between July and now it dropped to 718. I know this is far from the guidelines for meds but such a big drop is scary to me.. is there anything that could have caused it? Any chance of it coming back up without medication?

" Boy, I wish I could help you on that one. I stayed under 200 for the first five years, I've just recently seen jumps to over 200-212 to be exact. Are you under a lot of stress? That contributes alot to your state of health. I'd be dancing in the streets if mine were that high. What did your doctor say exactly? "

" My anxiety has been the bane to my CD4 at times. But depression and other things going on can affect that # as well. Then there are just mysteries as in I have had chronic G.I. issues for over 4 months, but my #'s remain very high after three years of climbing. HIV happens to be pretty smart, making everyone's experience kinda 'personalized'! Then there's the huge variable of which meds you are on. FYI--It is your overall % of all #'s that really matters, and keeping that viral load to a minimum! Atripla has worked very well for me. "

" Correction--when I say my #'s remain very high, I actually mean my CD4 is high, Viral load undetectable. So used to College grading, these stats mix up my dyslexic brain at times! "

" My doctor didn't really have much to say.. since its well about the 350 range as far as she is concerned there isn't much to discuss. Stress can definitely play a part because I'm in a pretty high stress job / social enviornment. Back in the spring I was doing a much better job taking care of myself.. more gym, better food, less drinking etc.. and so I guess I'm partially mad and upset that I may have brought this change upon myself. "

" Don't sweat it. It can be caused by something as stupid as having your blood drawn to early in the morning or the lab sitting on it too long. CD4 cells start to die immediately after blood is drawn. I go to Lab Corp (theives tha they are) and usually shoot for a late afternoon appointment. That way my blood doesn't sit too long before being tested. Can make a big difference. "
