Stomach pain and meds

I've been on two different combinations since beginning of April '09. First, Truvada, Norvir and Reyataz, and then switched to Truvada and Sustiva (Atripla). Anyway, about a month into my treatment, I started to feel a slight pain in my stomach, just above the right hip. It's been there ever since, not all the time, and certainly not mega-painful... just a niggling kind of pulsing pain every now and then.

Is this kind of pain common with ARVs??? Has anyone else had any similar experiences in particular with stomach pain???

My doctor doesn't think it is appendicitis, and is sending me for a scan early next week to rule out other explanations.

" An annoying pain where you're describing could be a number of things. Your liver as well as where your large and small intestines are in that area. Try increasing your fiber intake see if that helps, but most importantly have your doctor check liver enzymes or your exposure to Hep "

" Ye, slightly frustrating esp. because I can feel something going on down there. I'm glad that they didn't pick anything up though ;-)

Thanks for the tip on fibre intake hazem. My latest bloods came back fine re. my liver and kidneys.

Maybe my HIV doc will be able to shed some light on what is going on when I next return. "

" So last night I went for dinner with two friends and had a major attack of the stomach pain mid-way through. Was so bad, I had to clench my side -- my friends were wondering what was wrong with me.

I guess I just need to see how it plays out. I switched my medicine again late last week, so maybe that played a role. "

" What did you switch to? Mine went away... and I haven't felt it for a while, but last time it went away, it came back again and didn't go away for a long time after that...

So yeah, I'm still on Truvada and Norvir, are those still in your cocktail as well? "

" Went to the doctor today and he ordered tests on my liver. Hope they come back normal, but will let you know when I do. Really didn't get much other info except for being undetectable and my CD4 at 803. "

" DM, glad your stomach pain has gone! :) :) :) I was on Atripla, and then switched back to Truvada, Norvir and Reyataz over a week ago. It's been OK today thankfully!

RCT, good luck with the liver tests -- let us know how it goes. "
