During a converstation with my medical people who look after me i mentioned that my eye sight is changing, as i find reading small print a challenge these days.. They said to me that when i go for a eye test that i should tell the optition that i'm poz.. I am on meds... RITONAVIR,
REYATAZ and TRUVADA.. Does anyone have any idea why i should tell the optition my status? Also is there a link with my eye sight and meds? Posted on 05/24/09, 08:05 am |

I have CMV retinitis... cmv= citomeglovirus. (i don't think I spelled it right, though.)
ANYWAY... it's just something that people with low immune systems are prone to get. :( I hate it. It was really bad, I had to take galvancyclovir a couple times a day, through a pic line for a while. (a form of chemo...) Now I just take valcyte, which is the pill form. My eyesight has improved a lot, though. Yes, you should tell your eye doctor your status.

When first diagnosed my eyesight changed also however I was told that it was due to age and has nothing to do with hiv. I disclosed and the doctor must have gone and called the ID doctor before even touching me again which was a big problem after sitting in the ofiice for over an hour. Your eye problem does not have anything to do with your hiv.
