Survivors who are still in immense pain

Hello, my name is Liza. I am actually not a GBS survivor but the daughter of one. As it says in my profile, my father got GBS in 2001. We were told he was a really rare case because it was a miracle he survived. For two years after we kept hearing from the doctors that eventually his pain would go away or at least lessen a lot but that has not been the case and they finally just said they thought he might have this pain forever.
I have read about people having pain in their legs or other parts of their body, which is horrible enough, but I have not heard of anyone who still has the all-over-the-body pains my father has on a 24/7 basis. Are there any other survivors out there with the same story? I am just curious if anyone has had this and has had the pain lessen even after so many years... I"m just curious because I know that the medecine he takes can be damaging in itself and will eventually cause new problems. Any words of advice would help. Thank you, Liza Posted on 09/14/09, 05:09 pm |

I have had GBS for 5 months now the pain in my arms has pretty much gone away, but the pain in my legs is still very much here. My husband every night before we go to bed rubs my legs and it helps so much!! Also taking hot baths help. You can try getting him a massage therapist some Ins companies pay for them.
