This is all new to us now. He was just diagnosed with GBS, and had 3 treatments of Immunoglobulin in the hospital. He spent a week there, and was just released two days ago. He got up this morning with his arm and hand weak. He couldn't open his hand at first. His numbness has been in his right leg up across his waist front and back, and down the left leg to the knee. He thought he improved a bit after the 3 treatments, but not sure. Have any of you found the Ivib to work better than then plasmaphersis?
When we called the on call doctor this morning they said to come back in, but we are waiting to see what is happening since the arm weakness seems ot come and go today. We're just up in the air here now. This on top of a disease he already has, so we didn't need this. Thanks for any support in advance. Posted on 10/24/09, 05:10 pm |

I was diagnosed earlier this year with complete paralysis. I had great results from 5 treatments of plasmapherisis spending 2 wks in the hospital. Almost back to my old self. Still some weakness and tingling in my left arm but not to bad.

Thanks for replying. Did you try the immunoglobulin before your pheresis? My husband also has a bone marrow disease so his health is already in jeoparady. He's had plateletpheresis' in the past, so we're familiar with that type of procedure. He doesn't see the follow-up doctor until next week, but now his arm has been getting numb and weak. We're very concerned about getting the best treatment for him. I appreciate your reply.
