In my seemingly never-ending quest for information, I stumbled upon this site today.
It explains a lot of our "stuff" very well....in terms we can easily understand. Mind you, docs most likely will not accept what is said on here as "proof".....there are plenty of medical journals and textbooks that provide "proof" - I know because I've found them and read them. Kathy recently asked me to share my years of research on here and I am very excited about that. In the meantime, this site is a worthwhile read http://www.thyrophoenix.com/index.... This seems like a good site for people who have had RAI and are still hypo and struggling with it. Or who have had surgery and aren't medicated right. I think it's more for hypo people, isn't it? Of course we are all usually hypo by meds at some point!

I agree this is a good site for those who have had RAI or TT
However, there is great information on there for everyone with thyroid disease. They explain the T4/T3 conversion issues in easy-to-understand terms. And, they also explain why some people benefit from selenium supplementation. Since many Graves' patients have a selenium deficiency, I think it's a worthwhile read. I will note that, I agree with the authors of the site....selenium deficiency should be confirmed with testing before supplementation since there is such a thing as selenium toxicity which is dangerous.

Yes, CD, thank you so much.
I've been following your threads and I appreciate your research and all your posts. I had RAI and lived in hypo hell for a year or so....I've just come out of it a few months ago. I had to trick my doc into medicating me properly....I know, sad but true. Jeannie :)

I've also replied to you somewhere else saying this is good. Keep also in mind everybody, it will explain further what else a T3 helps us in the body other than just cardio symptoms. {{{hugs}}} :-)

I'm glad I can help.
Ya know, in my earlier life I volunteered extensively. Now, my current life just doesn't allow for it as much. I've always been a "science head".....studied biochemistry in college. I know that for me in the beginning, it was hard to embrace some concepts presented by forum peeps and I often wanted to read backup documentation. Sometimes forum peeps could provide it...sometimes not so my quest for information began. In researching the disease in an attempt to improve my health, I saw validity in sharing it. Heck, I feel I it's part of the "what comes around, goes around" process. I wouldn't be where I am today had it not been for my membership on a forum I found shortly after my Dx. I know my doctors did not give me any of the information I've acquired. It's very rewarding to me to share this information.....and I realized it can be my way of "giving back" now......something my active volunteerism did for me in my earlier life. And, when others on here add information and experiences to my posts, it's even better for everyone.....it's all good.
