I've been doing some research into this because I thought that since Im in remission I might use this to help keep me there. I know there are a few people here using it but I cant remember who. I know that Elaine has recommended it many times.
I was wondering how it is taken. I read that you should not use the tablet form because it may be toxic ???? Does it come in powder form? What dose are you taking ? Can you buy it at the health food store ? Do you think it would be a good supplement for me since Im in remission ? It comes highly recommended for people who are hyper...but since my blood levels are normal right now Im technically not hyper. Would it do more harm than good? There are 2 different types of L-carnitine.....Acetyl - L - carnitine and Propionyl - L - carnitin.....Which one do you use? Do you think it has made a difference? Thanks...Kathy Posted on 03/12/09, 12:03 pm |

Hi:
I take this and the recommended type to take is the: Acetyl L-Carnitine. I take it now in two divided doses, one in the AM and one in the PM. I started out in one PM dose for about a week and a half and then increase the AM dose. I buy the Carlson's brand 100 grams, which I bought it online on one of those vitamin places for the United States. It is in powder form which I put into my drink. I also have put other vitamins/supplements in my drink as well. Sometimes swallowing capsules vitamins/supplements can be too much for me so I will pull them apart into the drinks which makes it so much easier! I've read not to take Acetyl L-Carnitine if one is hypOthyroid. I am sure it would be okay if one has normal (euthyroid) levels? i noticed that much of my jitteriness/anxiety went away after about three weeks. I believe I am on my fourth week of taking the Acetyl L-Carnitine powder. Take care... :-)

I take the same as MM except I take 500 mgs in capsule form. I get it from Swanson vitamins. It seems to take away the sometimes jittery feelings I used to get even though I'm not hyper, but certain foods would trigger this. Elaine has said it's good for anyone to take. It supposed to help with energy in the muscles too which is good for us as we tend to have weak muscles. My bottle also says good for cognitive function. We need that too! Also it helps with the tsi causing any symptoms.
